Prostřední Bečva: Cycling Routes, Nature Trails and Architecture
Accommodation in Prostřední Bečva
A stay in Prostřední Bečva can have a variety of focuses. The Cyklostezka Bečva runs through the village; nature trails, the natural swimming pool and the Church of St. Zdislava add exercise, nature and culture to your travel plans. If you are looking for a hotel, you can first consider whether cycling, hiking, swimming or architecture should shape your stay.
Cycling and Nature Trails
The Cyklostezka Bečva runs through Prostřední Bečva and follows the Rožnovská Bečva River. This makes a specific cycling route associated with the river one of the reference points for planning your trip.
The Radhošťská ovčí dálnice nature trail has nine stops and is about 4 km long. It leads from the Pustevny saddle to the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius on Radhošť. Seasonal use varies: in winter, you can complete the trail on skis; in summer, you can ride a mountain bike.
An 8.6 km hike from Prostřední Bečva to Pustevny is suggested as another option. It can start at the “U požárního domu” bus stop. By comparison, the nature trail, at about 4 km, is shorter; the distances provide a concrete guide when choosing a route. The two route descriptions also differ in their destinations: the suggested hike leads from Prostřední Bečva to Pustevny, while the nature trail leads from the Pustevny saddle to the Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius on Radhošť.
The Pustevenská ZOO nature trail features life-size wooden animal sculptures. At each stop, information boards describe the animals. The Čertův mlýn nature trail has a distinctive landmark, Čertův stůl: this rock formation on the ridge of Čertův mlýn is the trail’s emblem.
Landscape and Natural Swimming Pool
The entire municipal area of Prostřední Bečva lies within the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Beskydy).
The Prostřední Bečva natural swimming pool uses a special pond planted with aquatic plants to purify the water and requires no chemical treatment. There is a shallow paddling pool for children and non-swimmers; the swimming area has a maximum depth of 2.5 m.
At Brána Pusteven, next to the car park, there is a bus stop, public toilets and a tourist information centre.
Church and Architecture
The Church of St. Zdislava was built in 2001 to a design by architect Jan Kovář of Opava. Relics of St. Zdislava are displayed in the church.
The part of the Pustevny complex located within the cadastral area of Prostřední Bečva includes wooden mountain lodges dating from 1891 to 1900. They were built to designs by architect Dušan Jurkovič. They include Maměnka and Libušín.
