Nítkovice between history and rolling hills
Accommodation in Nítkovice
Nítkovice lies on the border of the Vyškov and Kroměříž regions, 24 kilometres southwest of Kroměříž. The municipality is situated in the heavily wooded Litenčická pahorkatina hills. The village offers several distinct starting points for planning your trip: a medieval local history, forest walks and a regional cycling route.
Local history and the manor farm
The settlement was first called Nětkovice in 1349; the form Nítkovice became established from 1360. A fortress once stood on the hill known as Hrádek; it was mentioned in writing in 1536. Kozojedsko is a district of the municipality of Nítkovice and was first mentioned around 1360.
Kozojedský dvůr is a Baroque manor farm dating from 1732. Today, it is used exclusively for agriculture, with poultry and rabbits kept there. The dairy, carpentry workshop, accommodation and restaurant are no longer in operation. If you are interested in its specific current use, ask directly before visiting.
Landscape, walks and cycling
A notable natural feature is Oskeruše u Kozojedska, a protected remarkable tree in the cadastral area of Nítkovice. Its protection zone is established by law. On 4 September 2009, the tree was 18 metres tall; its trunk circumference was 303 centimetres, and its age was estimated at around 100 years at the time. The deep forests around Nítkovice invite you to enjoy relaxing walks.
If you are cycling, note the location of regional cycling route 5029: it runs west of Nítkovice in the direction of Vyškov–Koryčany. Local cycling paths connect to the route within the municipality. Check the signs on site.
Getting there and local amenities
Nítkovice has no direct rail connection. The nearest railway station is Brankovice in the Vyškov District, about 7.5 kilometres as the crow flies from the village centre. It is on regional line 340 between Brno and Veselí nad Moravou. This distance is measured as the crow flies, not by road or walking route; check current train connections before setting off.
Bus services connect Nítkovice with other municipalities, and there is a bus stop. Check current timetables before your trip for specific departure times.
Nítkovice has a JEDNOTA-COOP grocery store. If you plan to rely on it for supplies, check its current opening hours in advance. The municipal restaurant is open seasonally and has a garden beneath a pergola beside the fire-water reservoir. Confirm in advance whether it will be open during your travel dates.
Events and your stay
Various events organised by the local community have long been held in Nítkovice every year. The goulash festival took place in 2021 and 2022. If a festival is the reason for your trip, check the announced dates for your preferred travel period.
When looking for a hotel, you can use the purpose of your trip as a starting point: local history and forest walks offer a different kind of trip than travelling to attend a specific community festival. If the seasonal restaurant is part of your plans, schedule your stay around its opening period.
