Velký Beranov offers several distinct points of interest to consider when planning your trip: the chapel dedicated to Saint Anne, a wooden bell tower beside it, the Jihlava–Třebíč–Raabs cycling route and Jihlava’s MHD line 12. The buildings can be placed in their historical context, the route passes through the village, and the line serves it. This brings together local history, cycling and travel to the village, although these different topics call for different kinds of planning.

Chapel and Bell Tower

The Chapel of Saint Anne was built in 1837. A wooden bell tower was erected beside it on April 16, 2025. The dates mark different stages in the area’s built history: 1837 is the year the chapel was built, while 2025 is the year the tower was erected. For an architectural history perspective, it is therefore useful to compare a 19th-century building with a much later addition. The dedication to Saint Anne also places the chapel in a religious context.

Jihlava–Třebíč–Raabs Cycling Route

The Jihlava–Třebíč–Raabs cycling route passes through Velký Beranov. Along its full length, it runs mostly away from main roads, usually on country and forest paths or traffic-calmed roads. About one third of the route is developed as a cycle path; most of these sections can also be used by inline skaters. The route’s alignment and the proportion of developed paths are different features: one describes the types of paths the route mostly follows, while the other indicates the approximate extent of developed cycle paths. The information about skating applies to most of the developed sections, not to every path along the route. Check current route conditions before setting out, as they may change.

Historical Event Note and Natural Monument

A municipal newsletter from the third quarter of 2013 described the Sports and Children’s Day during the Beranov pilgrimage as an annual event organized by TJ. That year, 2013, it took place on Saturday, July 27. This historical event note thus adds a connection to the pilgrimage to the area’s architectural history.

The pedunculate oak near Jeclov is also among the protected natural monument trees of the Czech Republic within the municipality of Velký Beranov. It adds a natural monument to the points of interest, with Jeclov named as its location. Alongside the buildings and the historical event, visitors can therefore also find a protected tree connected to the municipality.

Getting There and Finding Hotels

Jihlava’s MHD line 12 serves Velký Beranov. This is a specific option to consider when planning a trip by public transport. As transport services can change operationally, check the current route information before setting out.

If you would like to combine your stay with local architectural history, you can consider the chapel and bell tower as points of interest from different periods. This lets you take the cycling route, getting there and local history into account as separate factors when planning your trip.
