Vyskytná Nad Jihlavou reveals itself through its cultural landscape, sacred buildings, and trails. When planning your trip, you can focus on walks, mining history, or architecture. The different themes are easy to distinguish: some trails lead through wooded terrain, while others connect places and sights along a described route.

Cultural Landscape and Trails

In the Vyskytensko landscape, unspoiled meadows and wetlands alternate with historic field patterns. Its fields are shaped into elongated strips or circular sections. Field paths and roads are lined with centuries-old lime trees, wayside crosses, shrines, and chapels. So as you make your way around, pay attention not only to your destination but also to the traces of the cultural landscape along the routes.

The highest point, U sv. Antonína, reaches 629 metres and offers year-round walks through wooded terrain. The route passes old mining works, military earthworks from 1823, and an important pilgrimage chapel dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua. The high point, forest paths, and historical traces form a shared focus for walks, but no walking time can be inferred from this.

The Hornická naučná stezka offers another way to learn about mining history. It comprises ten stops with information boards and runs through Hlávkov, Vyskytná Nad Jihlavou, and Rantířov to Rounek. From the car park by the road, continue on foot along a forest path to the mining site. Check local conditions for the route before setting out.

The Rounek mining site dates from the first half of the 13th century to the beginning of the 15th century. Its exceptionally good state of preservation makes it unique in the Jihlava mining district. The two walking options therefore have different focuses: at U sv. Antonína, the forest, mining works, and Saint Anthony’s Chapel shape the route; the Hornická naučná stezka offers stops with information boards and a described connection to Rounek.

Churches and Chapels

The Church of Saint Lawrence has a Late Gothic, single-nave core and was given a Baroque makeover at the beginning of the 18th century. It stands within a walled cemetery area with a mortuary chapel and is protected as a cultural monument under registration number 20448/7-5404. Both its Late Gothic origins and its later Baroque alterations are therefore important to its architectural history.

The Chapel of Saint Vojtěch also offers specific architectural details: it is a freestanding example of vernacular sacred architecture from the second half of the 18th century. It has a square floor plan, pilasters at the corners, and a rectangular entrance. Its four-sided roof transitions into a bell tower. A children’s playground was built directly beside the Chapel of Saint Vojtěch in Hlávkov in 2012; if needed, you can check its current condition on site.

The chapel in Hlávkov was given its present appearance in 2002 following an extensive structural and restoration reconstruction. Its frescoes depict Saints Peter, Paul, Joseph, Anne, John the Baptist, and Vincent Ferrer, as well as two group scenes. The chapel and its painted decoration thus offer a different perspective on local history from the architectural forms of the Chapel of Saint Vojtěch.
