Suchá: Trails, Landscape and Cultural History
Accommodation in Suchá
You can plan a trip to Suchá around its marked routes, forest and river landscape, and cultural history. If you’re looking for a hotel for a stay in Suchá, this overview offers specific information about local attractions. For planning purposes, it helps to distinguish between the different places involved: a hiking trail runs through Suchá, while other information concerns Prostředkovice, Beranovec or the surrounding area.
Trails and landscape
The yellow-marked hiking trail from Špičák to Brtnice passes through Suchá. By contrast, cycling route 5215 is known as the Luka nad Jihlavou–Luka nad Jihlavou circular cycling route and runs along the northeastern edge of the administrative area. The hiking and cycling routes therefore cover different areas. When you look at both routes on a map, one passes through Suchá while the other runs along the edge of the area.
Extensive forest areas extend into the northeastern and, in particular, western parts of the Suchá area. The Jihlávka flows through the built-up area of Prostředkovice, along Suchá’s eastern boundary, and then northward to the east of Beranovec. Forests thus shape different parts of the area, while the river forms another distinctive geographical feature.
Roads and orientation
Road I/38 runs through Suchá and Prostředkovice, connecting Jihlava with Znojmo. It provides a broader context for getting your bearings locally. When preparing for your trip, you can distinguish the road from the marked recreational routes; both Suchá and Prostředkovice are on the I/38. The road connection, hiking trail and cycling route each describe a different aspect of the geography.
Chapel and exhibition
The Chapel of the Holy Trinity stands in Suchá’s village square and is listed as an immovable cultural monument. For visitors interested in cultural history, it is a clearly identifiable landmark with designated monument status.
Since 2023, the Renaissance granary in Prostředkovice has housed a permanent museum exhibition on the history of the Stonařovsko region, particularly Suchá, Prostředkovice and Beranovec. Its themes also include the history of the Imperial Road from Prague to Vienna on the section between Jihlava and Znojmo, as well as geology, mineralogy and mining. Local history, transport history and topics related to the history of the Earth are thus presented side by side. The exhibition is open to the public by prior arrangement only; the building is currently being reconstructed. Arrange your visit in advance.
Events and swimming
Music events are held at “Jackova stodola” in Beranovec. Another event is documented historically at Hostinec U Štrofů: on 19 July 2025, a humorous summer event was held there for the tenth time. The original idea came about in 2015 as a small Christmas party in August. If you’d like to plan your trip around an event like this, check future dates separately.
Near Suchá, the ponds are located in Zadní Pouště; Durchák is considered suitable for swimming. Check this assessment locally again before swimming. This lets you take local swimming information into account when planning without confusing it with the routes or cultural attractions.
