Radňovice combines a distinctive landscape setting with several specific cultural and commemorative sites. When planning your trip, you can choose between different focuses: Harusův kopec and cross-country skiing in winter, as well as the Way of the Cross, a grotto and memorials. If you are looking for a hotel in Radňovice, you can first decide whether the landscape or local history will shape your stay more strongly.

Landscape and Cross-Country Skiing

Harusův kopec, at 741 m, rises above Radňovice and shapes the townscape. Radňovice also lies on the boundary of the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. This places a prominent hill above the town alongside its location on the boundary of the protected area as two distinct landscape features.

In winter, Harusův kopec is a popular place for cross-country ski trails. The Radňovický okruh adds a named route to this winter setting: the loop is 9 km long, more challenging, and runs through Radňovice and Jiříkovice. If you want to compare the options by route and use, the Radňovický okruh offers a set distance and a more sporting character; at Harusův kopec, the focus is on cross-country skiing in winter. Preparing the seasonal route may depend on snow conditions. Bear these conditions in mind when planning your trip.

The Way of the Cross and Local History

The Křížová cesta (Way of the Cross) is accessible year-round and has fourteen stations. It follows the route along which local carriers once transported tourists’ luggage to a hut. Thus, today’s accessible Way of the Cross and the history of the path’s former practical use come together. The stations mark the Way of the Cross; the luggage transport belongs to its past.

Grotto, Memorials and Film History

The Lurdská jeskyně was created in 2014 from local stone. Its year of creation and material give this site a clearly datable architectural history. The focus here is on how the structure was created and on the stone used.

In the centre of Radňovice, the memorial to the victims of the First World War commemorates local residents who fell between 1914 and 1918. The memorial to František Mikeš, by contrast, focuses on a person named in the memorial: Mikeš was a farmer and a cooperative worker, and was executed on 9 June 1942 for his resistance. The two memorials therefore differ both in whom they commemorate and in their time frame: one remembers local fallen residents over a period of four years, while the other commemorates one person and the day of his execution.

Film history is also connected with Radňovice: some scenes from the 1961 film Malý Bobeš were filmed here. This connection adds another cultural trace alongside the memorials and the grotto. For travellers interested in local history, memorial sites, a structure with a known date of creation and a specific connection to a film can all be found side by side.
