Albrechtice U Mostu can be explored through its natural monument, local history and architecture. A challenging hike takes place in the wider Horní Jiřetín–Jezeří area, but starts in Horní Jiřetín. When planning your trip, it is helpful to distinguish the destination’s themes from the actual starting point of a longer hike.

A natural monument shaped by mining history and birdlife

The Lom Československé armády National Natural Monument also extends into the cadastral area of Albrechtice u Mostu. Its designation as a protected area took effect on October 4, 2025. The natural monument includes natural ecosystems linked to the excavation pit of the former Československé armády open-cast brown coal mine. It also protects populations of tawny pipits (Anthus campestris) and northern wheatears (Oenanthe oenanthe). Thus, the former use of the excavation pit and the protection of natural ecosystems are part of the same subject area; the two bird species add another specific aspect. This gives your trip a clear focus on nature, distinct from local and architectural history.

Local history and architecture

Albrechtice U Mostu was founded at the end of the 13th century. Its local history includes the Romanesque Church of All Saints, which was later demolished. The Hraběcí Chapel offers a different architectural highlight: it is Baroque and was built after 1753. The chapel is in a forest on the east side of Jánský vrch, southwest of Jezeří Castle. The Jezeří Castle complex with arboretum comprises the castle, manor house, gatehouse, coach house, an outbuilding, a watchtower, a former bastion and the arboretum. The castle complex and the chapel are distinct points of interest: one is an ensemble with several components, the other a single Baroque chapel with a specific location in relation to Jánský vrch and Jezeří Castle.

Hiking in the wider Jezeří area

The challenging “Through the Kingdom of Beeches to Jezeří” route is 17 kilometers long in total. It leads from Horní Jiřetín via Mariánské údolí, Mikulovice, Dřevařský rybník, Josefiina skála and Jezeří Castle to the Albrechtická štola trail signpost, and then back to Horní Jiřetín. The starting and return point is therefore Horní Jiřetín; the hike does not begin in Albrechtice U Mostu. The 17 kilometers refer to the entire route, not to a stretch starting in Albrechtice. Check trail conditions before setting out.

The Albrechtická Tunnel was excavated by hand from December 1978 to May 1979. This construction period adds a distinct topic in the history of technology to the natural and architectural history. When planning, you can therefore distinguish between the natural monument, historic buildings and the challenging hike, rather than treating them as a single excursion destination.

Hotels and trip planning

If you are looking for hotels in Albrechtice U Mostu, first consider which focus you want your stay to have: the natural monument, local and architectural history, or the hiking route in the wider Horní Jiřetín–Jezeří area. If the 17-kilometer hike is part of your plans, plan your route around its starting point in Horní Jiřetín and check trail conditions in advance.
