When planning a stay in Tulešice, you can choose from three distinct areas of interest: local history, traditions and hiking. The historical references range from the castle on the site of a former fortified settlement to a Baroque chapel built on the site of an older wooden structure. There are also two local traditions and a hiking route in the Rokytná Valley. This makes it easy to choose a hotel based on the things you are most interested in seeing and doing locally.

Castle, Park and Chapel

The Baroque castle in Tulešice was built in 1711 by the Záblatský family of Tulešice on the site of a former fortified settlement. The park features Rococo sculptures depicting themes from ancient mythology, and the Tulešický potok flows through the castle grounds. The castle and park are privately owned and not open to the public. Bear this in mind when planning your visit: the grounds are part of the area's history, but are not open to the public for sightseeing.

The Chapel of St Florian stands on a hill on the eastern edge of the village. It was built in the Baroque style in 1782 on the site of an older wooden chapel. The histories of the castle and chapel can therefore be distinguished: the castle site was previously occupied by a fortified settlement, while the chapel was preceded by a wooden structure. Tulešice's historic landscape thus brings together different predecessor buildings.

Traditions and Religious Motifs

Local traditions include Smrtolka and Hrkání. During Smrtolka, girls carry winter out of the village. Boys observe Hrkání before Easter, replacing the church bells. The traditions differ both in what people do and when they take place: Smrtolka involves carrying winter out, while Hrkání is specifically observed before Easter. If you are interested in local customs, these are two distinct traditions, each with its own activity.

Local religious landmarks include a statue of St John of Nepomuk and a pilgrimage site with a statue of a shepherd carrying a lamb on his shoulders. The motifs are different: a named saint and a depiction of a shepherd with a lamb. Together with the Chapel of St Florian, they offer a range of religious themes to explore as part of Tulešice's cultural history.

Nature and Hiking Route

The protected Přírodní park Rokytná Nature Park borders Tulešice. A hiking route follows the Rokytná Valley to the Tulešice-Rokytná trail junction, then continues to Tulešice along a red-marked hiking trail. The route description thus consists of a valley section leading to the named junction, followed by the marked trail into the village. Before setting out, check the trail markers and the condition of the path.
