Those looking for a hotel in Nesovice can plan their trip around different interests: the history of Nové Zámky Castle or trails through the forest and countryside. There are also several chapels, each with its own architectural history. The town therefore offers options for both a culturally oriented stay and time outdoors. Nesovice railway station is on line 340 between Brno and Uherské Hradiště. Timetables may change, so check the connection for your travel date.

Nové Zámky Castle and Its History

Construction of Nové Zámky Castle began in 1561 under its then owner, Záviš z Víckova. It was designed according to plans by an unknown Italian master builder, but remained unfinished. Of the planned four-wing complex, the north and east sections survive. The difference between the planned scale and the surviving sections makes the castle’s unfinished character clear.

Another important date is 1645, when the castle was plundered and damaged. The dates mark different chapters in its history—the start of construction and a later turning point. Anyone interested in its architectural history will find both a clear chronological starting point and insight into the uncompleted design.

Chapels and Local Traditions

The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk was consecrated in September 1936. It houses an old statue of the saint, which was moved here from a demolished chapel. Pavel Jan Křtitel Souček was a patron of the chapel’s construction.

Below the castle, in the Nesovice area, the Chapel of St. Anthony was converted from a bell tower in 1912. In the village of Letošov, there is a small Marian chapel dating from 1921. The three chapels differ in their architectural histories and dates.

The Hody festival is also part of the local calendar: it is celebrated in late June, although the dates vary from year to year. If you would like to plan your trip around the festival, check the date for the relevant year.

Trails Through the Countryside and Forest

Nesovice stretches along the Litava stream and lies on the northern edge of Ždánický les Nature Park. The green-marked hiking trail leads from Nesovice railway station through the forest to the U Kříže signpost. There is a wooden shelter there where you can rest. Another 33 km excursion leads to a trail junction with an information board about local flora.

For a cycling trip, a route leads from Nesovice railway station towards Vyškov via cycle route 5029. The activities described differ in their mode of transport and destination: the hiking trail leads to a named rest point, the cycling route heads towards Vyškov, and the excursion is listed as 33 km long.

Seasonal Options

Koupaliště Nesovice outdoor swimming pool has a children’s splash pool and a beach volleyball court. It is a seasonal facility, so check the latest operating details before visiting. The time of year is therefore also an important part of planning your trip, especially if you are considering visiting the pool or attending Hody, which is celebrated in late June.
