Moravské Bránice brings together winegrowing, hiking routes and a rich local cultural heritage. The features of the area give you practical points of reference for planning your stay around your interests.

Wine Tastings and Vineyards

Vinařství Jan Plaček, at Moravské Bránice 348, has a vaulted tasting cellar. It can only be used with advance reservation. Public, expert-led wine tastings with wine samples, cheese and bread are offered there. If you plan to visit, confirm the details when booking.

In its cellar, Vinařství Plaček offers public, expert-led tastings with refreshments for groups of 15 to 40 people. Group arrangements should be confirmed in advance. The vineyards are located at lower elevations on the surrounding slopes, including below Karlova hora, the Hlínská vrchovina, Bukovina and the hill of Kalce. The Jihlava River flows along a natural course through Moravské Bránice.

Hiking Routes and Connections

A red-marked circular hiking route connects Ivančice, Moravské Bránice, Nové Bránice and Dolní Kounice. The “Brněnská” route of the Moravian Wine Trails runs from Silůvky through Moravské Bránice toward Dolní Kounice. Another documented circular hike passes through Dolní Kounice, Moravské Bránice, Železňák and Nové Bránice. It is 11 kilometres long and takes about three hours. This distance and time give you a practical guide for planning your day, without implying an unspecified walking time for the other routes.

Before setting out on the “Brněnská” route, check the signs and route. Conditions can change on hiking trails, too. The three routes pass through different sequences of places: one is a circular route through four named places, one runs between Silůvky and Dolní Kounice, and the documented 11-kilometre loop passes through Železňák. You can take the described route and specific time frame into account when planning.

Buildings and Local History

Local buildings include the wooden bell tower dating from the 18th century. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity contains an altar of Saint Anne. The “kanál” on the Bukovina stream is also among the tourist destinations and sights in Moravské Bránice.
