Springs and trails
Svatá voda, a plentiful spring of very pleasant-tasting mineral water, lies in a side valley north of Nová Ves. As of December 26, 2024, Studánka U Berana, also called Pramen U Dobré vody or Pramen lásky, is one of the most plentiful water sources in the Oslava river basin. As of December 26, 2024, Studánka U Berana lies on the yellow-marked trail between Senorady and Oslavany. The springs therefore differ in their location: Svatá voda lies in a side valley north of the village, while U Berana is on the marked trail between the two towns.
As of December 26, 2024, the route from Nová Ves to Studánka U Berana follows a paved forest road and then the yellow-marked trail; the spring is 1.5 km from the village. Check current trail conditions before setting out. A yellow-marked trail also runs near Nová Ves from Oslavany through the Oslava Valley to Senoradský mlýn. For U Berana, the distance and route from Nová Ves are the main points; the valley route can be followed via Oslavany and Senoradský mlýn.
History and festival tradition
Nová Ves was founded around 1410, following the abandonment of the settlement of Řevušín, which was first mentioned in 1230. The dates mark two milestones: 1230 is the year Řevušín was mentioned, and around 1410 is when Nová Ves was founded. The municipality is also a former wine-growing community, reflecting a historic agricultural tradition. Nová Ves is the home of the Majer stonemason family. They made stone crosses and statues that are still found throughout the wider area. The family’s origins, craft and the distribution of its work connect local history with the region.
The Rozmarýnové hody is traditionally held in Nová Ves every year in late September. If you would like to plan your visit around this festival, check the specific event dates for your chosen year. The traditional period provides a general guide, while the exact date can help you choose when to travel. Unlike a visit to a spring, timing is the main consideration here, while trails and springs offer specific destinations for day trips.
Sports facilities at the school sports complex
Nová Ves’s school sports complex includes a covered multipurpose hall with a telescopic structure for ball sports, as well as an indoor swimming pool with full facilities.
