If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Domanín, the town’s cultural attractions may influence your choice of destination. Here, architectural and church history sit alongside folk museum themes and traditional celebrations. These points of interest also span different periods: from historical dates on buildings to annual celebrations and a cycling route that passes through Domanín.

Church and Historic Buildings

The Church of St. Wenceslas (Kostel sv. Václava) was built between 1786 and 1788 and consecrated on 16 November 1788. Its furnishings include five paintings by Ignác Raab, four of which depict scenes from the life of St. Bernard. The church has three bells; the oldest dates from 1794. A wooden mission cross made in 1949 stands at the entrance. Beside the church is a stone statue of St. John of Nepomuk, created by an unknown artist in 1803.

Domanínský dvůr, a three-winged Baroque building, is located in the center of Domanín. Its architectural form dates from 1672 to 1678; the farmstead was restored during this period after the Tatar invasion of Moravia. Its historical operations included growing grain, legumes, hemp and grapevines, as well as raising livestock. The farmstead dates back to the 17th century, the church to the late 18th century, while the cross and statue are further examples from later dates.

Museum and Memorial Room

The Muzeum a galerie Domanín focuses on 18th-century folk architecture and original building techniques, as well as traditional folk art, agriculture and animal husbandry. It also covers the history and development of viticulture and original plant varieties. The history of viticulture is therefore presented both as part of the historical operations at Domanínský dvůr and as a museum topic in its own right. Museum visits must be arranged by phone.

The memorial room for Libuše Domanínská can be opened through the municipal office. Visits on Saturdays and Sundays must be arranged by phone two days in advance. Make arrangements with the municipal office before your arrival.

Annual Celebrations and Cycling Route

The annual calendar also offers a clear comparison of dates: on Easter Monday, Domanín observes the tradition of the pomlázková obchůzka. The svatováclavské krojované hody take place in September. They include a legal ceremony and wreath, a procession, a festive Mass and celebration, followed by the Hod festivities. If these traditions are the reason for your visit, check the specific dates of the celebrations in advance.

The Moravská vinná cyklostezka passes through Domanín. If you plan to include the route in your trip, check the current signs and route before setting off.
