Dražůvky lies in the Trkmanka Valley at the foot of the Ždánský les. The municipality combines a long local history with Slovácko traditions; the Ždánka Cycle Route adds a specific option for active trip planning. This gives you a choice of different focuses for your stay: historical traces, the Hody celebrations in August, or a ride along a former railway line.

Local History and Religious Monuments

The first written mention of Dražůvky dates from 1340. Archaeological finds point to continuous settlement from prehistoric times to the present day. There was also a church in Dražůvky in the 14th century. These dates offer different ways to explore the local history: archaeological finds reach far back in time, while the written mention and medieval church provide specific historical reference points.

The chapel with a bell tower in Dražůvky was built in 1892 by Prince Jan of Liechtenstein. The town's religious monuments also include a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. If you are interested in religious history during your trip, you will encounter different forms of religious heritage: a medieval church building, a 19th-century chapel and a statue of a saint. The church and chapel represent historic buildings, while the statue adds another form of religious remembrance.

Slovácko Folklore and Hody

The residents of Dražůvky keep old Slovácko folklore traditions alive. The traditional Hody celebrations take place every year in August. If you would like to plan your visit around them, check the dates of the events before travelling.

The costume rental service in Dražůvky carries only folk costumes historically associated with the “severní hanácké Slovácko” region. Residents of Dražůvky and residents of other municipalities may rent them. As rental rules may change and availability should be confirmed in advance, ask directly about the terms before visiting. For travellers who would like to include traditional costumes in their cultural plans, both the precise regional association and rental eligibility are important. Unlike the Hody, which take place during a set period in August, the costume rental service focuses on the historical regional association of the costumes.

On the Ždánka Cycle Route

The Ždánka Cycle Route follows a former railway line. It is 9 kilometres long and is ridden there and back. The route has a smooth asphalt surface and is mostly flat; it is also suitable for small children, scooters and inline skating. As the surface may change due to maintenance, check its current condition before setting out.

A replica of a railway halt with an exhibition is located on the Ždánka route in Dražůvky. The cycle route therefore has a specific connection to the railway: the former railway line shapes the route, while the replica and exhibition provide a separate reason to stop and look around. If you plan to visit the exhibition, check access arrangements beforehand.
