Radčice brings together routes in the Vodňany area, folk architecture and memorial sites on the village green. In the village centre, the farmstead at house no. 20 and the war memorial take centre stage; other landmarks include Radčický vrch, the Vodňany–Křtětice educational trail and Loucký mlýn. If you’re looking for a hotel in Radčice, you can plan your stay around cultural history or local routes.

Routes and landscape

The “Okolo Vodňan” tourist route runs from Křtětice to Radčice and includes a viewpoint on Radčický vrch. The hill is one of the notable viewpoints in the Vodňany area. The route thus links a named trail with a specific landscape feature.

The Vodňany–Křtětice educational trail has seven stops and a rest pavilion. While “Okolo Vodňan” includes Radčice and the viewpoint on Radčický vrch, the educational trail is defined by its sequence of stops and the rest pavilion. The routes can therefore be compared using their different landmarks.

A route leads to Loucký mlýn, where it connects to cycle route 1075; it is also possible to return to Vodňany. This route information is particularly useful for travellers who want to take a connection to a cycle route and a possible return to Vodňany into account.

Village Green and Architecture

The ensemble of folk buildings in Radčice includes buildings dating from the first third of the 19th century to the 1930s. One specific example is the enclosed rural farmstead at house no. 20: it is in the village centre and forms part of the western side of the village green. The small masonry farmstead belongs to folk architecture and dates from approximately the mid-19th century. This lets you compare the ensemble’s long period of construction with the more specific date range of this individual farmstead.

There is also a war memorial on the village green, with a relief depicting a farewell scene. The memorial is attributed to the sculptor František Lála. The relief’s subject and the attribution to the artist add another cultural-historical reference at the same location as the farm architecture.

The stone statue by the road between Radčice and Vodňany probably dates from the 18th century. The statue on the southern side of Radčice is considered a valuable feature that shapes the landscape. The stone Formanský sloup, known as the Brzdný kámen and considered a technical monument, also stands nearby. The statue and the Formanský sloup thus offer different ways to explore local monuments: one through its probable historical dating, the other through its technical classification.

Other landmarks in the municipality

On the Blanice, next to Loucký mlýn, Hospoda u Korittů is located in the municipality of Radčice and has outdoor seating. The mill site can therefore be considered both in terms of its route connection and the inn’s location by the river.
