Uzeničky lies amid fields and meadows, as well as forests and ponds. The surrounding landscape shapes a destination used for relaxation and various forms of tourism. If you are looking for a hotel in Uzeničky, the local architectural history and travel routes can help you get your bearings: some historic buildings are in the village itself, while the circular trail to Křikava and the menhirs starts in Černívsko.
Landscape, Location and Getting There
Uzeničky lies on the road from Blatná to Březnice, about 4 km from Myštice. Public transport to the village consists exclusively of bus connections to Blatná, Strakonice, Březnice, Příbram and Prague. If you are planning your journey by bus, check the timetables for your chosen travel date to make sure the connection fits your plans.
There are also two different directions to note for cyclists. The signposted cycle route 1063 passes through Bělčice and reaches Uzeničky. The signposted cycle route 1062 continues from Uzeničky in the direction of Myštice. Thus, the first route connects Bělčice and Uzeničky, while the second continues towards Myštice after Uzeničky. Before setting out on a cycling trip, it is advisable to check the signposting and route conditions locally.
Architectural History in Uzeničky
A local landmark is the renovated chapel, dated to 1890. Its date provides a specific historical reference point for the village’s architectural history. The former fortress of Uzeničky, meanwhile, tells a longer story of use: the three-storey building dates from the 14th century and was later converted into a granary. The fortress and the granary represent different periods in the history of the same building.
The former fortress is on private property and is not freely accessible. Take this restriction into account when planning your trip and respect local property rights. The chapel and the history of the fortress offer two distinct points of interest if you are curious about Uzeničky’s architectural past.
Křikava, Černívsko and the Circular Trail
Křikava and Černívsko add to the region’s cultural and walking context. Křikava is a small 14th-century castle on a small rocky promontory above the Černívsko pond. A moat protects it on its eastern side. In Černívsko, the Church of the Holy Trinity stands on the steep right bank of the pond, beside an active cemetery enclosed by a stone wall. The church probably dates back to the 14th century and was remodelled in the Baroque style in the first third of the 18th century.
The circular trail to Křikava and the menhirs starts at the Church of the Holy Trinity. It crosses the dam of the Černívsko pond and follows a green-marked hiking trail for about 150 metres uphill to the ruins of Křikava. The circular route is 4 km long, has an elevation gain of 42 metres and takes a stated 1:08 hours. The approximately 150 metres refers to the uphill section leading to the ruins; the 42-metre elevation gain is given as a figure for the whole circular route. This allows you to consider the distance, climb and time required separately.
The circular trail is rated as easy and suitable for families with children, but not for pushchairs. Bear this restriction in mind when choosing the route. As trail markings and conditions can change, check them before setting out. When looking for hotels in Uzeničky, you can also decide whether to focus your travel plans on the village’s architectural history or on the circular trail, which starts in Černívsko.
