River landscape and circular trail

Neznašov lies above the confluence of the Vltava and Lužnice rivers. The “Za neznašovským kohoutem” nature trail forms a circular route of about 5.5 kilometres around Neznašov; it starts in the village square and includes twelve information boards about cultural, natural and technical sights. A rocky viewpoint overlooking the confluence is also part of the trail. The route therefore offers a clearly defined circuit with stops covering a range of themes—from landscape to culture and technology.

The Chapel of St. Anne is located at the mouth of the Bohunický potok, at the confluence of the Vltava and Lužnice rivers. Along the nature trail, the rocky viewpoint looks out over the rivers’ confluence; the chapel is situated where the stream flows into them. The river confluence and the stream mouth thus stand out as distinct features of the same landscape.

Walking trails and viewpoints

The Vysoký Kamýk observation tower stands on the 627-metre-high summit of Vysoký Kamýk. The height figures refer to different measurements: the tower is 33 metres high, the entire structure reaches 46 metres, while 627 metres is the summit elevation. Unlike the nature trail, which starts in the village square in Neznašov, access to the tower begins at the edge of the forest near Všeteč and follows a green-marked hiking trail. The observation platform opened to the public on 1 May 2012. If you plan to visit the tower, check its current accessibility before your visit.

Jewish cemetery and fishing competitions

The Jewish cemetery of Neznašov is located in the cadastral area of Všemyslice, near Kukle Forest. There are about 250 gravestones there. Most date from the 19th century, predominantly from its second half. The approximate figure indicates the cemetery’s size; the dates show that most of the gravestones are concentrated in a particular period.

Fishing competitions are held every year at the local pond in Všemyslice. If you plan your stay around one of these competitions, check the specific event date before booking.

Kořensko: power station and lock chamber

The Kořensko waterworks is located on the Vltava near Neznašov, about five kilometres west of Týn nad Vltavou. It comprises a run-of-river hydroelectric power station with two horizontal Kaplan turbine units and an installed capacity of 2 × 1.9 MW, as well as a lock chamber. The capacity figure refers to the turbine units; the lock chamber is another component of the facility. Kořensko thus adds a technical point of interest alongside the landscape and trail themes of the nature trail and viewpoint. A lock chamber is the section of a lock in which water levels are adjusted to allow vessels to pass between different river levels.
