Sezimovo Ústí offers several specific points of interest when planning a hotel trip: Beneš Villa, the main tourist attraction in the historic part of the city; traces of the city’s earlier history; the sundial on náměstí Tomáše Bati; and the protected natural area Přírodní památka LUNA. Koupaliště Pohoda adds a sports and recreation area with a bathing pond; its operation may vary seasonally. The themes range from a tour with biographical stops and city history to protected nature and a recreation area.

Beneš Villa: Tour and Exhibition

Beneš Villa is situated where the Kozský potok meets the Lužnice. The grounds include an adjoining park and a monument; in the historic part of Sezimovo Ústí, the villa is the main tourist attraction. The visitor route begins at the Dr. Edvard Beneš Pavilion, goes through the adjoining park to the Beneš family villa, and includes audio-guide stops about Hana and Edvard Beneš and their life in Sezimovo Ústí.

The villa is a memorial regularly open to visitors, dedicated to Hana and Edvard Beneš. Access arrangements may change seasonally, so check the latest information about the tour before your visit. The pavilion houses an exhibition on Edvard Beneš’s work as a statesman and his democratic legacy, as well as the family life of Edvard and Hana Beneš in the villa. The exhibition and the tour have different emphases: the exhibition explores political work and family life by theme, while the tour connects these themes with the route through the park to the villa.

City History in Objects

Since 2005, the sundial on náměstí Tomáše Bati has displayed true solar time and calendar dates for the solstices and equinoxes. It thus combines a time reading with key points in the calendar year. A stone baptismal font, window sections, and other architectural elements from a city that no longer exists can also be seen on the lawn beside the town hall. This city existed here from the 13th century until 1420. The sundial and the building fragments offer different ways to explore the past: one shows solar time and calendar dates, while the others come from the former city.

Přírodní památka LUNA

This 1.7-hectare, sun-exposed south-facing slope lies on the right bank of the Kozský potok, next to the “Pod Letištěm” allotment garden colony and opposite the summer cinema. The protected features include heat-loving grass and herb vegetation and heat-loving animal species, including lizards and vipers. Protection therefore covers both plant communities and animal species adapted to warm locations. Regulations for the protected area may change; follow the current notices on site.

Sports and Recreation Area

Koupaliště Pohoda is a sports and recreation area with a bathing pond in Sezimovo Ústí. Its operation may vary seasonally, so check the latest information before visiting. For planning purposes, it differs from LUNA: Pohoda is a sports and recreation area, while LUNA protects heat-loving vegetation and animals.
