When choosing a destination, what matters is which themes you want to shape your stay. Rejta brings together a chapel with precisely dated construction history, an educational trail between Rejta and Trhové Sviny, ponds with different uses, and local cultural and sporting venues. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Rejta, you can assess the town according to whether cultural history, activity, water or local traditions are important to your plans.

Chapel and Construction History

The Chapel of the Ascension of the Lord can be dated using two precise dates: the foundation stone bears the date 6 April 1896, and the chapel was consecrated on 11 May 1899. The foundation stone and consecration mark different points in its construction history. The chapel was fully reconstructed in 2020; that same year, it was entered in the South Bohemian Památka roku 2020 competition in the “minor renovation” category. The chapel’s early dates and its later reconstruction thus stand side by side as clearly separate periods.

Educational Trail Between Two Places

The “Trhové Sviny – Pious and Sinful” educational trail connects Trhové Sviny with Rejta. Its stop No. 14, “Rejta,” is located in front of the cultural centre in Rejta; a 200 m detour is indicated for this stop. The connection between the towns and the detour describe different scales: the first indicates the link between the places, while the second concerns the route to the individual stop. If you include the educational trail in your plans, you can take these two points into account separately. The 200 m refers to the detour to the stop, not to the total length of the educational trail.

Two Ponds, Different Uses

When it comes to water, it is important to distinguish between two ponds. Velký rybník in Rejta has a natural swimming area and served as a filming location for the Czech film “Pojedeme k moři.” Bosna, also known as “Obecňák,” has been used as a fish-farming pond since 2021; fishing there is prohibited. The swimming area and film connection relate to Velký rybník, while the information about fish farming and the fishing ban applies to Bosna. These distinctions help you avoid confusing the two places when planning your trip.

Mill and Hammer Mill

Marouškův mlýn is documented in writing from 1532 and is considered the oldest known structure, presumably, in the area of present-day Rejta. The hammer mill in Rejta retains its original fittings. While the mill can be dated by its early written mention, the preserved fittings are the specific feature of the hammer mill. The two places therefore offer different points of connection to cultural history.

Masopust and Sports

The Doudlebský masopust is celebrated in Rejta every year on the seventh Sunday before Easter. Its date is therefore tied to Easter and does not fall on the same calendar date every year. At a masopust procession in Rejta in 2022, the route began in front of the Na tahu inn and was planned so that no house was left out. The date describes the recurring tradition; the starting point and route refer to the 2022 procession.

The SK Rejta pitch has an artificial turf surface with quartz sand, as well as markings for nohejbal and “mezní.” This specific sports facility adds to Rejta’s cultural-historical and landscape themes. Unlike the chapel, educational trail or ponds, the focus here is on the surface and the markings mentioned.
