Dívčice offers several ways to plan a stay focused on the landscape and regional history. The ponds, a marked cycling route to the Kubata Monument and historical themes from the Dívčicko area each offer a different perspective. If you are looking for a hotel, it is worth first considering whether you would prefer to base your stay around the pond landscape, a cycling trip or architectural history.

Pond landscape and change

The Dívčické rybníky ponds are designated as a regional biocentre covering an area of 62.59 hectares. The biocentre comprises a mosaic of paths, small meadows and woodland, which allows for a wide variety of plant and animal communities. The landscape is therefore defined not only by its bodies of water: meadows, woodland and paths also form part of this described mosaic.

The ponds Blatec, Březovec, Nová and Černá lie in the immediate vicinity of Dívčice. The water areas in the Blata are preferred nesting sites for waterbirds. Nature enthusiasts can therefore appreciate different aspects side by side: the diversity of habitats in the biocentre and the importance of the water areas as nesting sites. The Dívčicko area forms a crucial part of the historic Zbudovské Blata.

After settlement in the 11th century, the former wetlands of the Zbudovské Blata were gradually turned into pastures, fields and ponds. This sequence makes the landscape’s transformation over time tangible: different forms of land use followed the former wetlands. The historic domain known as the Dívčice estate also included two fortresses, built by the Lords of Sudoměř from the end of the 14th century onward.

Cycling route, monument and getting around

A marked cycling route leads to the Kubata Monument. The monument was erected in 1904 and lies beyond the village, near Zbudov railway station. The circular trail “Za památkami a přírodou Zbudovských Blat” is a very easy family-friendly route. The two route descriptions emphasize different things: the cycling route has a specific destination, while the circular trail is described as easy and family-friendly.

Dívčice railway station is at the junction of the main České Budějovice–Plzeň railway line and the branch line to Netolice. If you are planning to travel by train, check the current timetable in advance. This lets you organize your journey according to your specific travel plans, without inferring timetable details from the station’s location as described here.

Architectural heritage in Zbudov

Zbudov has a relatively high degree of preservation among its traditional farmsteads. The conservation area protects 19th-century Blata-type farmsteads. These include houses Nos. 1, 3, 4, 23, 25, 26 and 27. The numbers refer to specific protected farmsteads and make the architectural heritage tangible.

Zbudov village square is also home to the former smithy, No. 28, and the former mill complex, No. 9. Together with the farmsteads, these buildings illustrate different aspects of the village’s architectural heritage: protected farmhouses as well as former buildings that served distinct functions in village life.
