In Pištín, a range of interests come together: beekeeping, historic architectural styles, and a cycling route through the Zbudovská Blata landscape. When planning your trip, it is worth considering these topics separately. The Včelařská expozice has set visiting hours, while the route is described as approximately a certain length and rated easy. At the farmsteads, church, and wayside shrine, the focus is on specific architectural and historical details.

Beekeeping and visiting the exhibition

The Včelařská expozice is located in the attic of the Spolkový dům. On display are historic beekeeping tools and equipment, including pieces dating from 1900, straw skeps, and historic honey extractors. The collection offers a vivid introduction to the history of beekeeping: alongside individual dated items, the skeps and extractors show different kinds of beekeeping equipment.

The exhibition is open to the public during cultural and social events in Pištín. If you would like to visit at another time, you can arrange a visit with the municipal office. This is important to bear in mind when planning: access outside such events should not be assumed to be available without notice, so it is best to arrange it in advance.

Farmsteads, church, and historical details

The enclosed farmstead No. 1 dates from around 1700. Its location is precisely described: it stands at the western end of the north side of the village square, below the church, on the road to Pašice. Farmstead No. 5 has a different focus, on its architectural features. The residential building has an openwork curvilinear gable; the farmstead also includes a granary dated 1863 with a simple triangular gable and a segmental-arched gateway. Thus, a farmstead dating from around 1700 and the dated granary offer distinct historical points of reference.

The listed Neogothic wayside shrine “Boží muka” is another dated structure in Pištín: it bears the year 1866. House and inn No. 35, “Na Dolánku,” has a different historical role. Until 1863, it served as a post office and a relay station for stagecoaches. The year 1863 therefore appears in two different contexts: it dates the granary at Farmstead No. 5 and also marks the end of the post office and relay station functions at “Na Dolánku.”

Several specific details come together at the Church of sv. Vavřince. Its tower is 36 metres high and has had a clock since 1846, which is wound by hand every day. The church is surrounded by an enclosed cemetery; the church complex also includes a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. The tower’s height, the clock’s history, and the other features of the complex offer different ways to explore Pištín’s architectural and local history.

Cycling route through the Zbudovská Blata

For those who would like to explore Pištín by bike, “Kolem Pištína na Blata” is an easy circular route of approximately 24 kilometres, starting and ending in Pištín. The route is intended primarily for families with children and seniors. Its length and rating provide guidance when choosing a suitable bike ride; the stated distance is approximate.

The route presents the Zbudovská Blata as a historic landscape. Its themes include folk architecture, rural Baroque, wetlands, and ponds. The cycling route therefore connects not only with architectural history, but also with the landscape it explores. Unlike the exhibition, which can be visited by arrangement outside event times, the route is described as a circular ride with its own stated distance. This can help you decide whether you are more interested in the exhibition or a longer bike ride.

Gastronomic event

One of the local event themes is “Pečeme, vaříme, smažíme,” a traditional gastronomic event listed for 2024 and 2025. If an event date is a deciding factor for your trip, check the announced dates for the period of your visit.
