The municipality has two distinct highlights: the protected farmstead at No. 9, including the site of the former fortress, and the Radošovické skály, a small climbing area. The cycle path along the Volyňka and the railway connections also provide practical guidance for planning your trip.

The history of the farmstead at No. 9

The farmstead at No. 9, including its ramparts and the site of the former fortress, is listed as an immovable cultural monument under number 15583/3-4342. The late Gothic granary is the most valuable part of the complex. Dendrochronological dating places its lower section shortly after the middle of the 15th century. Dendrochronology dates wood by examining its growth rings; here, the dating specifically applies to the lower section of the granary, not to the entire farmstead as a whole.

The site of the former fortress is a mound about 70 m in diameter, surrounded by a wall. Traces of a rampart can be seen in places beneath the masonry; how clearly they are visible on site may vary. The ownership history of the place is also significant: Radošovice belonged to the Hospitallers of Strakonice from 1243 until the end of the 18th century. This period describes the place’s historical affiliation, while the dendrochronological dating relates to a component of the granary. The two dates therefore concern different historical questions.

Radošovické skály: a small climbing area

Radošovické skály is a small climbing area beyond Radošovice, along the Strakonice–Volyně railway line. A vertical wall offers about twenty routes of moderate difficulty. The number of routes is approximate; conditions on the routes may also change. Check them before planning your climb.

The rocks can be reached from Radošovice railway station or Přední Zborovice railway station. Plan your journey to one of these stations and check train services before setting off.

The cycle path and travel along the Volyňka

At Radošovické Podskalí, the Volyňka and the surrounding rocks form a picturesque valley. In the western part of the Radošovice area, a designated cycle path runs along the Volyňka between Strakonice and Volyně. The valley description refers to Radošovické Podskalí, while the cycle path information refers to the western part of the area; they therefore identify two different locations.

From Strakonice, you can reach Radošovice by the train called “Volyňka,” on foot, or by bicycle via the Volyňka cycle path. In the southern part of the municipality, Radošovice has a railway stop on the Strakonice–Volary line. You will encounter the name “Volyňka” in two contexts: as the name of the train and as part of the cycle path’s name. These are different modes of transport for your trip; check the current timetable for train travel.
