Čepřovice lies in the foothills of the Šumava. The hilly surroundings are about 500 metres above sea level. Landscape, routes and rural architecture shape different aspects of the village and offer several specific starting points for planning your trip.

Landscape and local features

From Čepřovice, you can enjoy views of the wooded peaks of the Šumava and the ruins of Helfenburk Castle. From Hránová Hill, there are also views towards the Šumava. The Dubský potok flows through the village. This means views of the wider landscape sit alongside a watercourse within the village itself; nature is therefore part of the setting both around and within the village.

Routes and getting there

Several routes pass through Čepřovice or lead there. Cycling Route No. 1072 runs through the village; on Cycling Route No. 1247, a turn-off leads from Předslavice to Čepřovice. The 53 km cycling loop around castles and the Museum of Rural Life also passes through Čepřovice. A blue-marked hiking trail runs through the village as well, as does the Jakub Bursa Route. The route types are clearly distinct: a through-route, a turn-off, a loop and a marked hiking trail.

The 53 km refers to the entire cycling loop, not just the section through Čepřovice. When planning, it is useful to distinguish between the circular route and the section passing through the village. According to the municipal strategy, public bus services in Čepřovice are provided by ČSAD STTRANS a.s.; there are bus stops in all parts of the municipality. If you are planning to take a bus to get there or visit one of the municipal districts, check the relevant timetable before setting off.

Rural architecture and culture

The Chapel of the Guardian Angels stands in Čepřovice village square. Wall paintings dating from the second half of the 17th century have been preserved in the former fortress. These offer two distinct points of interest for anyone interested in cultural history: a place of worship in the village square and historic paintings in a former fortress.

Farmhouse No. 17 is a preserved rural farmstead complex. The ensemble includes a residential building, stables with a shed, a granary that has since been converted for residential use, and further stables. A barn stands on the southeast side. Between the gables of the farmhouse and the granary is a gate with a segmental-arched entrance. So it is not just the residential building that is of interest, but an ensemble comprising several types of buildings.

An event in December

A traditional Christmas trumpet performance is scheduled for 5 p.m. on 13 December 2026 in the chapel in Čepřovice. If you are planning your trip around this event, check the latest announcement before travelling so you can factor the specific event date into your plans.
