Lipno on the Lipno Reservoir
Accommodation in Lipno
Lipno (Lipno nad Vltavou) lies on the left bank of the Lipno Reservoir, near its dam. Water sports, cycling routes and leisure activities are among the main attractions of a stay here; the Šumava landscape surrounds the town. The Janusovská Lampa, a 365-centimetre-high sculpture by Milan Doubrava, is also considered a landmark of Lipno nad Vltavou. If you are looking for a hotel in Lipno, you can first consider whether the lake, cycling or family-oriented activities will be the deciding factor for your trip.
The lake and the town’s history
The history of today’s holiday resort is closely linked to the reservoir: during construction of the Lipno Dam, the original settlement was flooded and replaced by a new holiday resort. The shore near Lipno nad Vltavou offers opportunities for swimming, sailing, windsurfing and sport fishing. The reservoir is therefore both a setting for various activities and part of the town’s history. Lipno nad Vltavou’s shipping harbour lies behind a promontory, from the beach side in the direction of the dam. Marina Lipno is located in Lipno nad Vltavou.
Cycling routes and route profiles
The Lipno Bikepark features a 1.8-kilometre blue trail and a more challenging red trail measuring 1.2 kilometres with 180 metres of elevation gain. Route details may change; check them before planning your trip. The bike park is suitable for children aged eight and over, as well as beginners and advanced riders. The five-kilometre Singletrack Lipno is designed differently: it runs through the forest and was specifically designed for families and children. The route is mostly downhill over terrain rollers and banked turns; the chairlift takes you back uphill. The 21-kilometre JezernĂ inline skating path runs along the shore of Lake Lipno. These different route details can help you decide in advance between a colour-graded bike park trail, a family-oriented forest trail and a longer inline skating route along the shore.
