České Chaloupy is a settlement with scattered buildings, characteristic of the western and southern Blanský les. A scattered settlement pattern describes a form of settlement in which buildings are not grouped exclusively in a compact village center. For planning your trip, both the settlement pattern and the hiking and cycling options in the surrounding area are therefore part of the overall picture.

Settlement Pattern and Landscape

Blanský les is characterized by gently rolling horizons, preserved nature, and the historic structures of villages and scattered hamlets. The natural environment and settlement history are therefore equally part of the region’s character. While these features describe the broader landscape, scattered buildings characterize the specific type of settlement. This makes it possible to understand České Chaloupy both in terms of its built form and in relation to the surrounding landscape.

Hiking: Routes and Connections to the Area

Several route descriptions are relevant to hikers, each answering different questions. “Hřebenem Blanského lesa” is a moderately difficult ridge hike and offers numerous views of the surrounding landscape. The “Křemežskou kotlinou” circular route passes through České Chaloupy and continues via Sedm Chalup and České Chalupy to Nová Ves. The hike can be shortened and may partly follow the ridge. Another route reference is stage CZ12.3 Holašovice–Lhenice of the Zlatá stezka, which passes by České Chalupy.

The routes offer different criteria for choosing a hike: the moderate difficulty rating and views on the ridge hike, the option to shorten the circular route, and the fact that the Zlatá stezka stage passes by the settlement. Their connections to the area also differ: the circular route passes through České Chaloupy, while the Zlatá stezka stage passes by České Chalupy. This lets you assess the routes according to the features stated for each, without treating them as one and the same route.
