Lipí: 1897 Chapel, Forests and Ponds
Accommodation in Lipí
When looking for hotels for a stay in Lipí, you can assess the destination by its landscape, a distinctive building and the cycling routes listed. The features of the village appeal to different interests: protected landscape and bodies of water, a landmark in the village, and specific routes that connect Lipí with other places along the way.
Landscape and village character
Lipí lies at the foot of the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area and is surrounded by forests and ponds. This brings together a named protected area and the immediate landscape described as woodland and water. If you take nature and the surroundings into account when choosing a destination, these features give you a concrete sense of what defines Lipí.
The surrounding area also offers general guidance for excursions: there are destinations to visit by bicycle or on foot. This information adds two possible ways of getting around to the landscape, without assuming a particular excursion. When planning, you can first decide whether you want to focus on the village itself or also explore places in the surrounding area.
The Chapel of Panny Marie Lurdské
The Neo-Gothic Chapel of Panny Marie Lurdské dates from 1897 and is considered Lipí’s most important landmark. It stands by itself at a road junction, surrounded by mature trees. Its name, architectural style, year of construction and location make it a specific feature of the village, distinct from the description of its forests and ponds.
The term “Neo-Gothic” refers to architecture that revives Gothic forms. The chapel can therefore be characterized by its Neo-Gothic design and its position at a road junction. The mature trees are also part of its described surroundings and add another element to the local landscape. If culture and architectural history factor into your travel decision, the chapel offers a clearly identified point of interest.
Cycling routes with different sequences of places
The municipal plan of May 2021 lists cycle route 1082 from Hluboká nad Vltavou (Vondrov) via Bezdrev, Dasný, Čejkovice, Dubné, Lipí, Hradce and Vrábče to Křemže. The cycle route 1092, also listed, runs from České Budějovice via Litvínovice, Šindlovy Dvory, Mokré, Kaliště u Lipí and Lipí to Kvítkovice. Lipí features in both route sequences, but the stated start and end points and the other places differ.
Another cycle route listed in the same plan, route 1127, runs via Zlatá Koruna and Lipí. The place names give you different points of reference if you want to compare routes by their stated sequence. As the route information comes from a plan dated May 2021, it is advisable to check the current route before setting out.
More information to help you choose a destination
Lipí has a football pitch and a volleyball court. These two sports facilities add two specific sports to the picture of the village. If they matter to your travel plans, you can consider them alongside the landscape, chapel and cycling routes as further features of Lipí.
The municipal plan of May 2021 also mentions a restaurant on the village square with an outdoor seating area in summer. The seasonal note refers to the outdoor area. Before your trip, ask whether the restaurant is currently open and whether the outdoor seating area will be available during your visit.
Several different points of reference are therefore available when choosing Lipí as a destination: its location at the foot of Blanský les, forests and ponds, the Chapel of Panny Marie Lurdské, the listed cycling routes and the local sports facilities. You can focus your search according to whether landscape, cultural history or cycling matters most to you.
