Archaeological and Architectural Remains
Obrovy hroby is a significant archaeological site in Kucer. It lies 170 metres north-northwest of the junction of the Kučeř–Sobědraž and Jichovice–Velká roads. It is a square fortified enclosure of the Viereckschanze type, with an earthen rampart and a ditch. The name identifies the type of structure; the rampart and ditch describe its features in more detail.
Another cultural and historical landmark is the stone cross in Kucer. It dates from 1761 and is considered a valuable example of small-scale folk architecture. It therefore complements the archaeological site with a distinct connection to local architectural history.
Kučeřský jalovec is also one of the area’s special landmarks: it is a solitary protected commemorative tree, first designated on 18 April 2000. As a commemorative tree, it links the natural setting with a memorial aspect.
The points of interest described here offer different considerations to help you choose your travel destination.
