If cycling opportunities are your main reason for travelling, several existing routes in Jarošov nad Nežárkou are worth considering: some pass through the town or one of its districts, while another begins there. Rivers, floodplains and protected natural areas complete the picture. When choosing your destination, you can first consider whether you want to focus on a particular route, activities on the water, or nature and culture.

Cycling routes with different points of reference

The Krajem tří železnic route runs between Jindřichův Hradec and Lovětín through Jarošov nad Nežárkou. The Do rodiště Tomáše Štítného route passes through Zdešov. The Nežárka cycling route offers a different starting point: it begins in Jarošov nad Nežárkou, at the confluence of the Kamenice and Žirovnice rivers. Its starting point is easily accessible by train. The routes therefore differ in their courses: one passes through the town, one through Zdešov, and another starts here.

A cycling event is also tied to a specific date. The Jarošovská šlapka took place on 25 July 2026 as its 22nd edition. This edition offered cycling routes of varying lengths and difficulty, as well as a children’s route. If you are planning to attend a future edition, check its date and the routes offered for that event.

Rivers, walks and activities on the water

The area around Jarošov nad Nežárkou offers opportunities for walks. When water levels are suitable, the local rivers can be used for water tourism. This makes water levels an important difference compared with swimming in a nearby sand pit. Fishing is possible both there and on all three rivers with a valid fishing licence.

The river landscape also plays a role in nature conservation: the local waterways and their valley floodplains are among the most important areas in the administrative territory of Jarošov nad Nežárkou in terms of nature conservation. The Lipina Natural Monument lies on the slope of the Žirovnička valley floodplain. It protects an original lime-oak forest typical of the warmer areas of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands; Lipina was designated a protected area in 1974.

Views and cultural landmarks

At 610 metres, Němcův kopec is the highest point in the cadastral area of Jarošov nad Nežárkou and offers a view. This hilltop is therefore set in a different landscape from Lipina, with its protected forest on the slope of the valley floodplain.

Cultural landmarks include the cross stone near Jonášova bahna, dating from 1709, and the Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Zdešov, built in 1776. A stone wayside shrine on the old road to Jindřichův Hradec is thought to date from the late 14th century. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is now on the steps leading to the church and dates from 1719. In Hlubokodol, the factory complex is a technical monument.
