Horosedly can be explored for your trip planning through two themes: cultural monuments in the village and routes that pass through it. When looking for a hotel, you can decide whether the local buildings and places of remembrance, or a cycling or hiking trip, are more important to you. These two perspectives have different focuses: one draws attention to individual monuments, the other to routes and how they are used.

Cultural Monuments and Places of Remembrance

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk is Horosedly’s dominant landmark and was consecrated in 1713. The year places the chapel in its historical context; its role as a landmark also describes its significance in the village landscape. In the lower part of Horosedly, across the river, stands a Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. There is also a niche chapel on the village square. The chapel, statue, and niche chapel should not be understood as the same building; the two depictions of Saint John of Nepomuk are located in different parts of the village.

The small Baroque chateau is part of agricultural farmstead No. 1. Two aspects should be distinguished when placing it in context: “Baroque” identifies the style, while its connection to the farmstead indicates its local context. The latter detail preserves its association with the agricultural estate rather than treating the chateau in isolation. This architectural feature thus complements the religious sites with a different point of reference.

A different form of remembrance is the memorial plaque to Bedřich Šupčík, unveiled in Horosedly in 2003. It commemorates the Olympic champion and gymnast. Thus, alongside the religious sites, a specific individual from the world of sport also features in the village’s history. The years refer to different events: the chapel was consecrated in 1713, and the memorial plaque was unveiled in 2003. This distinguishes the consecration from the later commemorative installation.

Cycling and Hiking

The Mirovice–Orlík cycling route passes through Horosedly, is about 27.5 kilometres long, and is suitable for trekking bikes. The stated length refers to the entire named route, not just the section through Horosedly. As route conditions can change, check them before setting out.

A red-marked hiking route also passes through Horosedly. It is a separate point of reference for visitors who want to plan a hiking trip rather than a cycling trip. The two routes can be distinguished by the features stated for each: the cycling route has an approximate total length and is suitable for trekking bikes, while the hiking route is marked in red and passes through the village. Check the local status of the hiking route before your trip; conditions for the cycling route may change.

Visit Planning

The Schwarzenberg Court has a clear access restriction: it is not open to the public. Do not plan to visit it as a public attraction.
