When planning your trip to Borova, you can explore a range of natural and cultural attractions: the Provázková louka Natural Monument, Borovská alej, a cycling trip and a chapel in the settlement of Borovští Uhlíři. The Borová stream near Chvalšiny also has its own landscape history. If you are looking for a hotel in Borova, these different themes can help you tailor your trip to your interests.

Moorland and protected species

The Provázková louka Natural Monument protects wet moorland meadows with protected plant species. These include the broad-leaved marsh orchid (Dactylorhiza majalis), the Siberian iris (Iris sibirica) and the rosemary willow (Salix rosmarinifolia); the marsh fritillary is also protected. Provázková louka is part of the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area. This gives the area a distinct identity based on its habitat and named species: the focus is on wet moorland meadows, plants and an insect. For nature-loving travellers, this is a destination in its own right, distinct from the tree-lined avenue and the stream.

Tree-lined avenue with valley views

Borovská alej is a protected tree monument in the cadastral area of Borová u Chvalšin. It is a mixed avenue with 62 pedunculate oaks and offers views of the valley. The number of pedunculate oaks gives a concrete sense of the avenue, while the valley views add a landscape perspective. Unlike at Provázková louka, the focus here is on the avenue and its views.

Cycling trip with a named starting point

Cycling trip No. IV, “Velká jedle na Bulovém,” starts at the car park by the Nová Hospoda bus stop in Rohy. It reaches the beginning of Borovská alej in the settlement of Borovští Uhlíři. After the section through the avenue, it returns to the starting car park. This clearly identifies the start, the section of the avenue reached and the return point, helping you find your way. Returning to the same car park is as much a part of the route plan as the starting point; the avenue lies along the described route between these two points.

Chapel and stream

There is also a chapel in the settlement of Borovští Uhlíři, with an inscription bearing the year 1833. The chapel adds a specific, dated reference point to the local history. For travellers interested in local buildings and historical details as well as natural attractions, the inscription offers a point of interest in its own right.

Another natural attraction is the Borová stream near Chvalšiny. Its catchment area was restored in 1998 and 2000. The restored stream has a natural, meandering bed with pools and surrounding greenery. A meandering bed winds its way along; the pools and greenery add features of their own to the picture of the watercourse. This makes the stream distinct from the moorland meadows and tree-lined avenue: the focus here is on the watercourse and its form. The years give the restoration a historical context.
