Discover Hutě: Cycling Routes and Climbing Area
Accommodation in Hutě
Cycling, climbing and geology offer different ways to enjoy your stay in Hutě. Several cycling routes pass through the village. The U Mamuta climbing area lies on the Lužnice route from Bechyně towards Hutě; a geological site is located about 0.5 km northeast of Hutě. The Černýšovické jalovce area is also nearby. When planning your stay, you can consider whether route options, granite formations, or geological and botanical interests should shape your trip.
Cycling routes and route options
The cycling excursion “Heroes of Bygone Days – from Bechyně to Famous Personalities” is divided into two independent loops. It runs from Bechyně along cycling route 1136 through Hutě and Černýšovice. The complete 45/35 km route returns to Bechyně via a bridge over the Lužnice. Another, 30 km route runs through Bechyně, Hutě and Černýšovice. The “To Černice for Nature and Golf” route also passes through Hutě.
The route details provide a concrete basis for comparison: alongside the 30 km route, there is the 45/35 km route with a shorter option. This runs through Černýšovice and Hutě to Bechyně. Most sections of the 45/35 km route follow roads with little traffic; however, take care in traffic. The shorter option also includes a busy road section before joining cycling route 1136. Check route conditions before setting off. This lets you consider not only the distance but also the route and traffic advisory when making your choice.
Climbing and walking along the Lužnice
U Mamuta is a granite climbing area with walls and overhangs. It lies on the left bank of the Lužnice between the Větrovy area and the village of Hutě. The climbing area is on the Lužnice route from Bechyně towards Hutě. From Hutě, it can be reached on foot by walking about 500 m upstream. Rock and access conditions may change; check them before setting out.
For walkers, there is a separate landmark along the Lužnice: on the red-marked hiking trail, leave the riverbank once the settlement of Hutě comes into view on the opposite bank. This is a different way to experience the river surroundings than visiting the climbing area with its granite walls and overhangs. When planning, you can therefore consider the approximate walk to U Mamuta and the described hiking trail separately.
Quartz deposit and junipers
The Hutě u Bechyně geological site is about 0.5 km northeast of Hutě. An abandoned open-pit mine is located there on Kameník, which is 419 m high. The quartz vein at the site is no more than 2.2 m thick; quartz crystals in the vein can grow up to 20 cm long. Two different measurements are therefore of particular interest at this site: the thickness of the vein and the potential length of the crystals.
As conditions at the open-pit mine and access may change, check them before visiting. The Černýšovické jalovce area is also nearby, an important occurrence with more than 300 common juniper specimens. The geological site and the juniper occurrence complement the cycling and climbing themes with geological and botanical aspects. This lets you get a sense of Hutě based on the activities and places that actually matter for your trip planning.
