Mladá Vožice offers several distinct highlights to consider when planning your trip: castle and town history, museum collections, religious buildings, and climbing and route options. The selection ranges from historical exhibitions to a Via Ferrata and a hiking march scheduled for 2027. This gives you the opportunity to decide which themes you want to shape your stay before looking for a hotel.

Castle, Church, and Town History

Vožický zámek Castle was built between 1570 and 1603. Under the Küenburgs, it was rebuilt in its present Baroque form. The main entrance features striking, historically old carved gates.

The church dedicated to Saint Martin already existed in 1348, when Mladá Vožice was first mentioned. The bell tower “Zvonice – solná věž” is also one of the town’s oldest buildings. It was built as a tower-like watch post on elevated ground in the centre; a salt storehouse was located on the ground floor.

Museum and Memorial Sites

The Památník Mladovožicka currently focuses on historian and professor August Sedláček (1843–1926), who was born in Mladá Vožice. He is considered the founder of Czech local and family history and created the monumental work “Hrady, zámky a tvrze Království českého”. The art gallery displays paintings by Czech and European artists from the 17th to the 19th century. Another exhibition features historical tableware made of tin, copper, porcelain, stoneware, and glass. An exhibition also presents works by academic painter Ota Bubeníček (1871–1962), who lived and worked in Mladá Vožice. Access to the Památník Mladovožicka is through the passage via the Infocentrum. Check these access arrangements before your visit.

A group of four former Jewish houses has been preserved on Židovská Street in Mladá Vožice. The neo-Gothic synagogue was partially demolished after 1949. Its surviving wall remains, together with an adjoining house, form a residential building; a plaque there commemorates the victims of the Holocaust.

Chapel on Hrad

The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on Hrad stands on the site of a royal castle that was completely destroyed in 1425 during the Hussite Wars. Around the middle of the 17th century, Krištof Karel Přehořovský z Kvasejovic commissioned the construction of the chapel. A Stations of the Cross trail leads up the slope to it. From the west, you can reach the chapel by climbing 32 stone steps; from there, you can enjoy views of rolling countryside and green valleys.

The chapel is open every year during Advent, at Christmas and Easter, and for the Vožice pilgrimage. Opening arrangements may change; check current times before your visit.

Via Ferrata, Nature Trail, and Cycle Route

The Mladá Vožice Via Ferrata is located on Pod Hradem Street and is suitable for adventurous visitors as well as beginner climbers. The recommended parking area is at Náměstí obětí nacizmu. From there, you can reach the ferrata in about ten minutes on foot via Majora Boháče and Pod Hradem streets. Check current conditions before climbing and parking arrangements before you travel.

The “Stříbrná osmička” nature trail starts either at the railway station in Sudoměřice u Tábora or in Mladá Vožice. The “Vítězství u Mladé Vožice” cycle tour passes through Stará Vožice on its way to Mladá Vožice. The 36-kilometre Mladovožická route of the Praha–Prčice march, starting at the Mladá Vožice bus station, is scheduled for 15 May 2027. The date and registration procedures vary by edition; check the information for the specific event before taking part.
