When choosing a destination, it helps to match the characteristics of the area to the purpose of your trip. Lipence combines its riverside setting on the Berounka with a stream, a lake, a cycle route and golf practice facilities.

The Berounka and its floodplain setting

Most of Lipence lies in the floodplain on the right bank of the Berounka. To the northwest and west, the river forms the boundary with Radotín and Černošice. The Berounka is therefore both a defining feature of the floodplain setting and a boundary of the area. To understand the local waterways, it is useful to distinguish this connection to the river from the Lipenecký potok: the stream has its own course, running within the area.

Lipenecký potok and pond

The Lipenecký potok rises in the southern part of Lipence. Its entire course lies within the Praha 5 district, in the Lipence cadastral area; its upper course runs through wooded terrain in a natural streambed. There is also an artificial pond on the Lipenecký potok in Lipence’s holiday-home area. The waterways here range from a natural streambed to a constructed pond.

Swimming at Jezero Lipence

For the 2026 bathing season, Jezero Lipence was listed as a new natural swimming area. The operator describes a leisure area with a nature park, lake and beach for relaxation, aimed at the general public. As it operates seasonally, check practical swimming information before your visit. The operator regularly monitors water quality and publishes test results.

History and other interests

Lipence was formed through the union of the historic settlements of Lipenec and Lipany. Lipany, part of present-day Lipence, was first mentioned in writing in 1115. If you are interested in local history as well as the landscape and recreational activities, this gives you a specific connection to Lipany and the origins of Lipence.
