Discover Plískov: Chapel, Local History and Běh Bukovem
Accommodation in Plískov
Plískov offers several different points of interest to help you plan a stay: a chapel in the village square, historical milestones from a medieval manor to iron ore mining, a beekeeping tradition that continues today, and the annual Běh Bukovem. If you are looking for a hotel, these topics can help you plan your stay around local history, the landscape or a specific event date.
Chapel, Village Square and Old Houses
A chapel dating from 1849 stands in the village square. It is listed as a protected cultural monument under ÚSKP number 27572/4-2566. The year of construction and protected status provide two different reference points: the year indicates when it was built, while the number identifies its protected status.
A circular walking route passes old log houses. Access to individual buildings may be restricted. The chapel and the houses along the route thus represent different connections to the village: a dated monument in the village square on the one hand, and traditional buildings along a circular walk on the other.
Layers of Local History
In 1377, Plískov was a Kmetcím manor owned by Jan Drahoň of Újezd. In 1585, Plískov was sold to Ladislav the Elder of Lobkowicz, thereby becoming connected with Zbiroh. The two dates mark different milestones: first, the manor and its owner; later, a sale and the connection with Zbiroh. During the time when Dr. Strousberg owned the Zbiroh estate, iron ore was mined in Plískov. Thus, in addition to changes in ownership, mining and the use of local natural resources are also part of the village’s history.
An Eneolithic stone hammer found in the built-up area of the village in 1914 reaches further back in time. The find belongs to prehistory, while 1377 and 1585 mark medieval and early modern milestones. The Plískov monument to the fallen of the First World War was created by Vojtěch Havíř, a stonemason and sculptor from Radnice. The composer Josef Poncar also stayed in Plískov. Together, these connections tell a story that stretches from an early archaeological find to later commemorative culture and cultural visits.
Landscape and Local Traditions
The wooded surroundings of Plískov are part of the Radečsko–Křivoklátská vrchovina uplands. There are three protected oak trees in the village; check their condition and protected status locally. Along the circular walking route, a pond covered with water lilies and a rest area lie beside the chapel. The water lily growth and resting conditions may change. Beekeeping is also part of the village’s history: it was practiced in the past and is still carried on by a few beekeepers today.
Běh Bukovem: A Planned Event Date
