If you are looking for a hotel in Nemanice, you can start by considering what you would like to focus your trip on: cycling routes, the landscape, or the town’s cultural history. Nemanice offers several distinct points of interest, from two specifically named cycling routes to Baroque architecture and a restored chapel. The following features can help you choose the focus that best suits your plans.

The landscape around Nemanice

Nemanice lies below the Haltrava Ridge. The ridge reaches 882 metres and separates the town from the rest of Czech territory. Nemanice is one of five settlement areas in Zone IV of the Český les Protected Landscape Area. This designation adds a reference to the protected landscape zone to the information about the elevation.

The Nemanický potok drains the Nemanice area and belongs to the Danube river basin. The floodplain along the stream is designated as a natural asset in the Nemanice land-use plan. The ridge, watercourse and floodplain thus describe different aspects of the surroundings: the geographical divide, the hydrological connection and a designated natural asset.

Compare cycling routes by length and course

Cyclists can compare two routes by their length and intermediate places. Route 2280 runs from Bělá nad Radbuzou via Bezvěrov and Šidlákov to Nemanice and is 23 kilometres long. Route 2281 also runs from Bělá nad Radbuzou to Nemanice, via Újezd Sv. Kříže, Hostouň, Drahotín and Hvožďany; it is 26 kilometres long. The second route is therefore three kilometres longer and passes through a different sequence of places.

The existing hiking and cycling routes in Nemanice mostly follow field and forest tracks, as well as Class III roads with little car traffic. The routes therefore include different types of tracks and roads. For practical planning, the two cycling routes offer comparable lengths and clearly specified courses.

Church, local history and chapel

The Baroque Church of St John of Nepomuk was built under the patronage of the Stadion family between 1781 and 1784. Its comprehensive renovation began in 1991. The town’s history goes back further: Nemanice was founded shortly before 1591 under the name Loužnice. The founding, construction of the church and start of the renovation thus belong to different historical periods.

A restored chapel in Novosedly near Nemanice is a cultural monument. It serves as a place for meeting, quiet contemplation and remembrance of the eventful history of the border region. Together with the church, it offers different perspectives on cultural history: Baroque architectural history on the one hand, and gathering and remembrance of the border region’s history on the other.

The Nemanická LáFka

The Nemanická LáFka adds a tradition of events to the landscape and cultural attractions. Traditionally, participants work in pairs to try to cross a running bridge over a swimming pool without getting their feet wet. The focus is on a shared attempt with a clear goal: to cross the bridge without getting wet feet.
