If you are looking for a hotel in Hromnice, you can plan your trip around nature, architectural history, or recreational sports. Hromnické jezírko is a destination for visiting a natural monument; churches in Hromnice and the village layout of Nynice offer an architectural focus. SportAreál Žichlice focuses on sports. Each theme offers a different emphasis and can help you plan your trip according to your interests.

Nature at Hromnické jezírko

Hromnické jezírko is a protected natural monument near the municipality of Hromnice. It was created as an artificial remnant of a slate quarry. Its origins are particularly relevant when planning your visit: the lake is not suitable for swimming. You can walk all the way around it. A gradually rising path leads to a first viewpoint above the water, reached after about 100 metres.

Architectural history and village architecture

Zámecký statek Býkov is a large, listed farmstead in the rural Baroque style. It was built by Cistercians in 1703; Abbot Evžen Tyttl of Plasy Monastery played a major role in its creation. The buildings enclose a spacious rectangular courtyard. Alongside the stylistic designation, this brings out a second architectural dimension: the shape of the courtyard describes how the buildings are arranged as a whole complex.

The Church of St. George in Hromnice has Gothic origins and was completely rebuilt in the Baroque Gothic style from 1741 to 1744. Gates were added to its enclosing wall in 1749 under Abbot Silvestr Hetzer. The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Hromnice also has Gothic origins; its presbytery features significant Gothic frescoes. It was enlarged in the Baroque period by Plasy Abbot Silvestr Hetzer. By comparison, St. George is distinguished by its complete rebuilding and the gates added later, while the Church of the Assumption is notable for the frescoes in its presbytery and its Baroque extension.

The village square in Nynice is spacious and laid out in a regular circular shape. It is lined mainly with masonry farmsteads with gates and gables; a large Baroque chapel dominates the square. Nynice is a striking example of high-medieval rural urban planning. This perspective draws attention to the village as a whole, rather than to a single building alone.
