There are three distinct ways to make the most of a stay in Dobříč: outdoor activities, local sights and the history of ochre. The cycling route and nature trail differ in length and format; the church, granary and birthplace offer further perspectives on the town. You can focus on whichever topics interest you most.

Cycling Route and Trails in the Area

Dobříč lies on the 63 km-long Baroko III cycling route. The Jarovská nature trail also runs in the area, with 11 stops over a distance of about 10 km. It forms a loop and includes a detour to the Rozhledna Radost observation tower. At 63 km for Baroko III and about 10 km for the Jarovská nature trail, the routes differ considerably in length; they also differ in format, as one is a cycling route and the other a loop with stops. Another route, “Z Dobříče k Berounce”, starts in Dobříč and passes through Koryta, Čivice and Kaceřov. The routes also differ in location: the nature trail runs in the surrounding area, while “Z Dobříče k Berounce” starts in Dobříč.

Nature, Sports and Outdoor Swimming Pool

Dobříč lies on the edge of the Plaská pahorkatina uplands. The surrounding countryside is suited to relaxation, walks and active leisure. Walking and enjoying the landscape complement the more specifically described routes, offering additional ways to spend your time here.

The Dobříč sports and recreation complex, on the grounds behind the school, has facilities for football, tennis, nohejbal, volleyball, beach volleyball and basketball, as well as a children’s playground. An outdoor swimming pool is located at the western edge of the built-up area of the Dobříč ZSJ. If a particular sports facility or a visit to the pool is important to your plans, check the latest information in advance.

Sights and Local History

Local sights in Dobříč include a timber-framed granary, known as a “roubený špýchar”, and the birthplace of painter Václav Karel. The Church of the Most Holy Trinity offers another perspective on the town’s history. It has older origins, was originally dedicated to John the Baptist and was remodelled in the Baroque style after 1700.

The use of ochre is also part of Dobříč’s history. Natural ochre from the Dobříč deposit was used as a pigment in paints for buildings and artworks. Mining of ochre began near the place known as Bílé jámy at the end of the 19th century. Dobříč’s story thus extends from its local buildings to the history of a natural material.

Events

The municipality’s events programme includes, among other things, a “pouť” (pilgrimage festival) and beer festivals. If you would like to plan your stay around an event, check the specific dates in advance.
