Cebiv offers specific points of interest for travelers interested in architectural history and cycling. The village’s main attractions are the castle with its H-shaped floor plan, the historic paper mill on the Hadovka and two cycling routes. If you are looking for a hotel in Cebiv, these themes can help you decide what to focus on during your stay: architectural history, an event or a cycling tour.

Cebiv Castle: Building history in several phases

The spacious Baroque castle stands on a slight rise amid the village buildings. Its H-shaped floor plan defines the complex. Behind the Baroque façades is masonry from several building phases: its development spans from the Late Gothic period to the final alterations during the era of socialist Czechoslovakia. The castle thus brings together both its Baroque appearance and a series of structural changes. The chapel in the east wing retains early Baroque doors and a barrel vault dating from the rebuilding after the fire of 1657. The chapel adds a detail to the castle’s history that can be linked in time to the rebuilding.

The paper mill on the Hadovka

The paper mill on the Hadovka stream offers a different historical perspective. It was built of stone in 1821; its complex included a weir and a millrace. The stream, the mill buildings and these two waterworks are all part of the mill’s history. In contrast to the castle, with its many building phases, the focus here is on a specific year of construction.

Cycling and countryside around Cebiv

Cebiv extends along both sides of the Kozolupský potok valley. Signposted cycling route 2215 runs through the village between Trpísty and Černošín. The “K vodě dvakrát přes Hadovku” route also passes through Cebiv; beyond Strahov, it offers a view of the Kozolupský potok valley and Cebiv. The routes offer different points of reference to help you choose: route 2215 can be identified by its course between two villages, while the Hadovka route also offers a scenic point of reference. You can therefore choose whether to focus more on named places or on the described view.
