When planning a stay in Částkov, cultural history and landscape offer two complementary themes to explore. These include the fortress and present-day chateau, churches in Částkov and Pernolec, and a protected rural farmstead in Maršovy Chody. Watercourses and small bodies of water shape the municipality’s landscape; contiguous forest lies in the western part of the cadastral area of Maršovy Chody, within the Český les Nature Park. Cycle Route No. 36 also passes through Částkov. When planning your trip, you can therefore take account of architectural history, religious sites, landscape and a named cycling route.

Fortress, Chateau and Architectural History

Částkov Fortress was founded on the eastern edge of the village, above a shallow, marshy valley. Artificial ponds and ditches formed its outer fortifications. Its position above the valley and the water obstacles together define the setting: the ponds and ditches were expressly part of the outer defences. The fortress was built and inhabited from around the 14th century. Its history therefore begins approximately in this period and also includes later structural changes.

A Renaissance extension added three rooms; later Baroque alterations shaped the present-day chateau. The interiors feature groin vaults. In this type of vault, curved surfaces meet along diagonal ribs. This lets you identify different aspects of the site: ponds and ditches formed part of the outer fortifications, while the groin vaults define the interiors. If you are interested in architectural history, you can consider both the site’s former defensive function and its later changes.

Churches and Protected Monuments

The Church of St Anne in Částkov is protected as an immovable cultural monument under registration number ÚSKP ČR 44334/4-4736. It is a separate point of interest alongside the history of the fortress and chateau. In Pernolec, a settlement belonging to the municipality of Částkov, the Church of St Anne Samotřetí and its Stations of the Cross were built in 1902. Their shared construction year links the two religious structures in time.

A visitor report dated 13 July 2021 noted that the Church of St Anne Samotřetí was not generally open to the public and could only be entered during certain events. If you would like to see the interior, check local access arrangements before travelling.

In Maršovy Chody, the protected rural farmstead at house no. 1 is a specific heritage site; the farmstead includes a statue of St John of Nepomuk. The cultural-historical picture thus includes not only churches and the fortress, but also a rural farmstead with a statue of a saint. The different types of buildings and monuments provide distinct points of interest if you are exploring the municipality’s history and religious motifs.

Landscape, Cycling Route and Travel

The landscape of the municipality of Částkov is crossed by watercourses and dotted with small bodies of water. Contiguous forest lies in the western part of the cadastral area of Maršovy Chody, within the Český les Nature Park. Water and forest represent different aspects of the landscape: small bodies of water and watercourses on the one hand, and contiguous forest on the other. These places complement the architectural history with a look at the landscape.

Cycle Route No. 36 passes through Částkov on the Všeruby u Domažlic – Hošťka – Částkov – Tachov – Cheb – Skalná – Měděnec route. This also makes the village a destination to consider for a cycling trip. The route offers a separate travel connection alongside the churches and the history of the fortress.

Částkov has a public bus stop. If you plan to travel by bus, check the connections that suit your specific travel date. This allows you to consider the features of the village that matter to your stay alongside your travel arrangements.
