Vysoké Mýto combines historic architecture with nature trails and attractions focused on technology and leisure. When planning your visit, you can choose different areas of interest: the city gates and St. Lawrence Church, a circular route through parks and the historic centre, or a longer route into the surrounding area. Swimming, a technology-focused museum and go-karting are also among the options described.

City Gates and Church Art

The Pražská brána is the best-preserved of Vysoké Mýto’s historic city gates. Its large tower serves as an observation tower and is open to the public. On a clear day, you can see the Giant Mountains, the Eagle Mountains and the Králický Sněžník Mountains from there. If the view is important to your plans, bear in mind that visibility determines the panorama. Check the tower’s current opening hours before your visit.

The history of St. Lawrence Church dates back to the founding of Vysoké Mýto: construction began at that time. In the early 14th century, the church was elevated to the status of a deanery church. Its distinctive features include Art Nouveau furnishings with numerous figurative scenes from the workshop of painter Karel Vítězslav Mašek, and a Late Gothic baptismal font dating from 1499. Different periods of art and architectural history thus come together in one building.

Nature Trails: From a City Loop to a Long Route

The town’s circular nature trail is 1.2 kilometres long. It loops through the town parks in the historic centre, offering a shorter route than those into the surrounding area. The 9-kilometre nature trail leads from Vysoké Mýto into the surrounding woods and through the varied landscape and natural areas around the town. The two distances and the environments described give you a concrete basis for comparing options when planning an outing.

Another route is almost 20 kilometres long. It starts in the historic centre at St. Lawrence Church, passes through Knířov, the chapel above Vanice, Sedlec and Vraclav, and returns to Vysoké Mýto. The routes described therefore differ significantly in length and course: the short loop stays within the historic centre, while the longer routes venture into the surrounding countryside or pass through several named places. As route details may change because of future maintenance work, check the route before setting out.

Technology, Go-Karting and Swimming

Since 2026, the Krajské technické muzeum Vysoké Mýto has been a modern, technology-focused institution in the Pardubice Region. Interactive features make the museum an appealing destination for children and adults. If you are planning a visit, check the latest visitor information before travelling.

At Autodrom Vysoké Mýto, go-karts are rented to children and adults; availability may vary. The autodrome also hosts numerous international karting and motorcycle races. If you are coming for the go-karting or a race, check availability or event dates in advance. This makes it easier to fit the activity you want into your stay.

The public Tyršova swimming pool has a water area measuring 106 × 60 metres, as well as an additional swimming pool measuring 50 × 12 metres. The two sets of dimensions describe the main water area and the additional pool. As opening arrangements may vary by season, it is advisable to check the current opening times before your visit. Vysoké Mýto’s options complement one another: you can choose cultural attractions, routes and leisure activities to suit your own interests without treating the different routes and activities as equivalent.
