Local history and landscape give you different points of reference when choosing Horni Lipka. Preserved permanent grassland and extensive adjoining forests characterize the district and its wider surroundings. These are complemented by a multi-phase church history, routes toward neighboring places and themes related to the history of fortifications in the Králicko area. When deciding where to travel, you can weigh whether architectural history, landscape, hiking, cycling or military history should be the deciding factor.

St. Anne’s Church and Historic Traces

The present-day Church of St. Anne stands on the site of a stone chapel dedicated to Saint Barbara, the Virgin and Martyr, dating from 1768. Its present-day Neoclassical appearance probably dates from 1818. This makes it possible to distinguish chronologically between the former place of worship and its later form. On May 26, 1923, the church tower burned down after being struck by lightning. During its reconstruction, the original onion dome was replaced by a pyramidal tower. The building’s history thus encompasses both a change in appearance and reconstruction after the fire.

Cemetery Traces and Local History

A former cemetery adjoining a church is now marked by removed gravestones along the south wall of a church building; a cemetery cross stands in its center. A fragment of the original monument is also located in the cemetery in Horni Lipka. An old trade route once ran through Horni Lipka to Kladsko. These historic traces add evidence of former routes and cemetery use to the building’s history.

Landscape and Trails

The district of Horni Lipka and its wider surroundings are characterized by a high proportion of preserved permanent grassland and extensive adjoining woodland. Together, these give the landscape an open yet wooded character. The Lipkovský potok drains the Horni Lipka area, flows east of the area in question and is part of the Morava River basin. The landscape can therefore be considered both in terms of its grassland and forests and in terms of the area’s hydrological setting.

A red-marked hiking trail runs between Heřmanice and Horni Lipka, then continues toward Prostřední Lipka. As route descriptions may change, check the trail’s course locally. Regional cycling route 4068 runs between Dolní Lipka, Prostřední Lipka and Horni Lipka; you should also check its current signage locally. For planning purposes, the information is clearly differentiated: the hiking trail indicates a route via Horni Lipka, while the cycling route is identified by its number and the places it connects.

History of Fortifications in the Králicko Area

The K-S 8 Museum features exhibitions on Czechoslovak fortifications, the Carpathian-Dukla Operation, and the Richard underground factory and Litoměřice concentration camp. The content of the exhibitions may change. The K-S 8 “U nádraží” infantry bunker is located 50 meters from Červený Potok railway station.

In the Králicko area, the K-S 9 “Mezi lesíky” infantry bunker was built in 1936 as the first fortification structure. During the occupation, the bunker was severely damaged by intensive shelling.
