Accommodation in Veselí
Veselí at the Foot of the Železné hory
Veselí lies at the foot of the Železné hory. When choosing a destination, you can consider travel options, landscape, and local history as different areas of focus: roads and the railway station provide orientation, while the Meandry Struhy Natural Monument, cycle route No. 4127, and the history of Veselská tvrz offer specific topics to help with planning. Which of these will shape your stay depends on your own travel plans.
Getting There and Finding Your Way
Road II/342 runs through Veselí from Valy towards Choltice. In addition, the Class III road from Veselí to Klenovka leads towards Přelouč. If you are travelling by car, these place names can serve as directions and help you locate Veselí within your journey.
The Veselí u Přelouče railway station is located on the northeastern edge of Veselí, on the Přelouč–Prachovice line. Its location is a specific point of reference when planning a train journey. Check the timetable for your travel date to find a suitable connection.
Nature and Local Recreation Areas
The Meandry Struhy Natural Monument encompasses the cadastral area of Veselí u Přelouče. It protects the naturally developing Struha stream, its bank vegetation, the alluvial forest, and the adjacent meadows. Protection therefore covers not only the watercourse but also various riverside and landscape features. If you want to get a sense of the destination’s natural character, this protected area offers a specific point of reference.
The Veselí biocorridor was created on the site of the former “Kuchyňka” pond and expands the local recreation area. This provides a different connection with nature alongside the protected features of Meandry Struhy: the development of a local recreation area on the site of a former pond.
Cycle Route No. 4127
A 2024 analysis of the area’s sustainable development lists cycle route No. 4127 from Třemošnice to Kokešov, with a stated length of 38.50 km. The route passes through Veselí and by the Veselí u Přelouče railway station. This length refers to the entire route between the two named places. If you are including the cycle route in your plans, check the route information relevant to your travel date.
Because the cycle route passes by the railway station, the station is a point of reference when planning a train journey and cycling trip together. Check the timetable and route information for your travel date.
Local History and Culture
The first written mention of Veselí dates from 23 July 1401. The origins of Veselská tvrz date back to the mid-16th century; the new Veselská tvrz was built in 1559 below the dam of the Návesník pond. At the beginning of the 20th century, the former Veselské tvrz grounds were known as “Hrádeček.” The timeline thus runs from the first written mention through the building’s history to a later name for the former grounds.
Local culture is also represented by a dated example: a bear mask featured in the masked procession in Veselí u Přelouče documented on 24 February 2007. This specific detail adds a glimpse of the masked procession of that time to the history of the building and the area.
