Tatenice
Accommodation in Tatenice
Tatenice combines a distinctive church complex in the centre with surroundings shaped by forests, fields, meadows and water. There are also two cycling routes with clearly stated directions. When planning your trip, you can consider whether culture and church art, the landscape or a cycling route is the deciding factor in your choice of destination.
Landscape, Stream and River
The extensive, predominantly mixed forests, along with fields and meadows, form a natural setting around the town. Hraničnà potok flows through Tatenice and joins the Moravská Sázava. The surrounding areas thus differ from the watercourse that runs through the town and connects to the river at its confluence. This gives you a different picture of the town for trip planning than the church complex in the centre: here, the focus is not on a single building, but on the relationship between forest, open spaces and water. So if you are considering Tatenice as a destination, you can understand its landscape through several different elements, rather than just one defining feature.
Church Complex and Art
In the centre of Tatenice, the complex of the Church of St John the Baptist is an important architectural feature. The Chapel of the Mount of Olives is part of the complex; it contains a sculptural group depicting Christ and the Apostles. A memorial to the fallen of the First World War stands in the area in front of the church complex. The chapel and the memorial offer different points of interest: the sculptural group inside the chapel and the commemoration of the fallen in the forecourt.
Another feature of religious art is the wooden side altar in the church in Tatenice. It is based on a painting by Van Dyck and is considered unique in the Czech Republic, and probably in all of Europe. For travellers interested in culture, the attractions range from the architecture of the entire complex to individual works of art and memorials. The chapel, sculptural group, memorial and side altar each reflect different aspects of Tatenice’s cultural character.
Cycling Routes and Getting There
For cycling trips, the two route descriptions can be distinguished by their direction. Marked cycling route 4024 leads to Tatenice via Lázek and Strážná; in Tatenice, take cycling route 4021 towards Lanškroun. If you are heading to Tatenice, you can use route 4024 as a route reference; for continuing towards Lanškroun, the turn onto route 4021 is relevant. Check the current route before setting out, as descriptions may change in later editions.
Tatenice is also located on an important railway line. This rail connection can be another factor in planning your trip; for a specific train journey, check the timetable for your travel dates. You can plan your journey according to the connection you want, while the cycling routes offer their own directions.
Tatenice as a Destination for Your Hotel Search
