Discover Srch: Nature, History and Local Traditions
Accommodation in Srch
Srch can be explored through a range of themes: a nature trail about life in the forest, the nearby Baroch Nature Reserve, a historic waterworks and local events. A pond and a memorial tree are also specific points of interest to help with planning. Before searching for a hotel, you can decide whether to focus your stay more on nature, local history or examples of events with specific dates.
Nature and the nature trail
The Naučná stezka Srch is an engaging educational trail about life in the forest. Ten stops with information boards and interactive features mark the route. It starts behind the football pitch in Srch. If you plan to follow the trail, check the starting point locally before you arrive; you should also take the local trail conditions into account.
The Baroch Nature Reserve lies nearby. This significant ornithological landscape includes pastures for wild horses and buffalo. The reserve covers land in the cadastral areas of Srch and Hrobice and is presented as an excursion option from Srch. So nature here is not limited to the forest trail: Baroch offers a distinct focus on birdlife and pastureland. As weather can affect visiting conditions, check the local conditions before setting out.
The Rybník Olšina (Vraťák) pond is a habitat for several amphibian species, particularly the marsh frog and the green toad. Anglers are subject to a separate condition: a fishing list updated in 2021 states that fishing at Rybník Olšina (Vraťák) is permitted only with a special licence. Check the current regulations before planning a fishing trip.
Cultural history in Srch
The Pernštýnská vodárna is an underground waterworks dating from 1515. It was built under William II of Pernstein and served as a water reservoir supplying the fountain in Pardubice’s town square and Pardubice Castle. In Srch, the structure is registered as an immovable cultural monument under the Czech registration number 51001/6-6193. Its history links a local structure to the former water supply of two named sites in Pardubice.
Another cultural and historical landmark is Panchártkova pear tree. It was declared a memorial tree on 7 April 2004. Together, these two examples show different aspects of the local heritage: an underground waterworks with a historic water-supply function and a tree with designated memorial status.
Events with specific dates
On 14 June 2025, the traditional fishing competition “O stříbrný háček” was held at Vraťák in Srch for the 19th time. A traditional fishing course for children with disabilities took place at the same pond on 26 April 2026. Both dates refer to past events; they are not a calendar of events for a future visit.
The two events documented in November 2025 also had different formats. The traditional event “Příjezd Martina na bílém koni” on 8 November featured a lantern procession, as well as songs and poems performed by children. The traditional “Strašidelná stezka” followed on 15 November: younger children had a mysterious maze, while older children and adults had a forest route. The age groups and programme details apply to these dated events.
When choosing your travel dates, details like these may be useful if you are interested in local events. If you are visiting now, check the dates individually. Regardless, the nature trail, nature reserve, pond and cultural monuments offer different themes to help you decide what to see in Srch during your stay.
