Discover Sovolusky: Forests, Waterways and Culture
Accommodation in Sovolusky
The deep forests around Sovolusky invite you to forage for mushrooms and take nature walks. The Brložský potok flows through the village; there is also a historic bell tower and a cross. Forests, waterways and history offer different focal points for planning your trip. For individual visitor attractions, it is worth checking their current status: the bathing area by the stream is not currently in operation.
Forests, Water and Landscape
The forests around Sovolusky are associated with two specific activities: foraging for mushrooms and taking nature walks. These are different ways to experience the forest. A walk focuses on moving through the landscape, while mushroom foraging focuses on searching for mushrooms. You can therefore plan your time in the forest around whichever interest matters more to you; both activities share the natural surroundings of the village as their setting.
The Brložský potok flows through Sovolusky. The bathing area by the Brložský potok is not currently in operation. The waterway and the bathing facility should therefore be considered separately: the stream is a feature of the village, but the bathing area is not currently an operating attraction. If you are planning to visit specifically to use the bathing area, check its operating status again before your visit.
Geology and Trails
Skalka u Sovolusk is a hilly formation consisting of the remnant of a single spilite lava dome. It is covered with thermophilous oak-hornbeam woodland. A geological formation and a clearly named woodland community are therefore both at the heart of this site. The site is more than 250 metres from the road and can be reached from the road via a walkable tourist trail. Check local conditions before setting out.
Numerous marked hiking and cycling trails run through the area around Choltice. Both types of trails are available there, so you can choose a route based on whether you want to travel on foot or by bike. The trail network may change, so check an up-to-date map before setting out. The route to the Skalka site should be treated as a separate tourist access route.
Cultural Sites
Sovolusky has a historic bell tower and a cross. Both are distinct features of the village and add named historical and cultural points of interest to its natural appeal. Together with the forest and waterway, they offer a different perspective on Sovolusky than a trip planned solely around outdoor activities.
The accessible Chapel of St. Romedius is located in the south wing of Choltice Castle. It is a specific cultural site for travellers who would like to include a chapel in their plans alongside nature and trails. Visiting conditions may change, so check the opening arrangements in advance.
In Semtěš, the Gothic defensive tower “Bašta” welcomes visitors. Official visitor information from 2026 welcomes guests to the tower; confirm that visits are possible before travelling. The tower also offers a free stamp for tourist diaries. If you keep such a diary, you can take this specific visitor service into account when planning.
