Květná: Nature Trail, Cheese and Village History
Accommodation in Květná
If you’re looking for a hotel in Květná, you can choose your destination based on the interests you want to shape your stay: the Lesní škola Květná nature trail combines a short route with woodland themes, Sýrárna Květná adds cheese tastings to your visit, and historic buildings and church bells provide a cultural touch. When choosing your destination, consider whether nature, cheese or local history is especially important to your stay. The highlights below show the specific experiences Květná offers in this regard.
Lesní škola Květná Nature Trail: Woodland Themes Throughout the Year
The Lesní škola Květná nature trail is about 300 metres long. Six information boards feature illustrations and brief descriptions of twelve native forest tree species found in the region. Along the route, you can examine herbs and grasses and watch birds in spring; in autumn, you can collect leaves and fruit. The focus therefore changes with the seasons: spring brings herbs, grasses and birds into view, while autumn is about leaves and fruit. If you have a particular observation or collecting activity in mind, choose your travel dates to suit this seasonal offering.
Along the Nature Trail
The paved section of the nature trail and the forest path also serve as a local cycle route; pedestrians have priority. If you’re walking, you may also encounter cyclists there. When cycling, give way to pedestrians and take local conditions into account. Květná railway station is 100 metres from the nature trail and lies on railway line no. 261 between Svitavy and Žďárec u Skutče. For travelling by train, this proximity is a useful point of reference; please check current train services separately.
Cheese Tasting and Production
Cheese and other products are available to taste at Sýrárna Květná. The cheese dairy makes and sells fresh, matured, smoked, steamed and affinage-ripened cheeses. The products are made from cow’s and goat’s milk. If a tasting is a key reason for your visit, check its availability in advance. This lets you include the tasting as a distinct part of your travel plans without assuming it covers the entire product range.
Events and Local History
A 2025 article in the village newsletter links Květná’s traditional Feast of St Lawrence pilgrimage with summer cinema screenings and family events. If these events are important to your stay, check dates and programme details for your preferred travel period.
A 2007 radio feature places Květná on the “Trstenicko-hrutovská stezka” route between Polička and Svitavy. Check the route again before using this information for specific route planning. The same feature describes the distinctive German farmhouses near the stream, with unrendered marlstone walls and decorative window surrounds, as largely preserved. The church tower in Květná still contains original bells dating from 1416. The houses and the bells offer different points of reference for local history: the architectural style on the one hand, and a specific historical date on the other.
