Nová Sídla can be explored through several themes: a settlement that developed in around three building phases, historic structures and a rural landscape. This combination offers concrete points of reference when choosing a destination with a cultural-historical or nature-focused emphasis. The Chapel of St. Anne, Sedlíšťka, the Loučná River, a hiking trail and a cycling route each add a different dimension. You can tailor your stay to your interests in local history, the landscape or outdoor activities.

Local History and Remembrance

The present-day settlement developed in around three building phases. Its parts include Stará strana, Kozí hřbet and Ovčí. The approximate number of phases provides a sense of the settlement’s development over time, while the names identify its different parts. These areas are useful reference points when finding your way on foot.

Two points of cultural and historical interest have specific dates: the Chapel of St. Anne was built in 1876; the war grave or memorial to the victims of the First World War dates from 1921. The chapel is a reminder of the history of religious architecture, while the memorial commemorates the victims of war. Together, they add distinct themes to the local history.

Sedlíšťka: Barn and Traces of the Fortress

A valuable Baroque barn was built in the 18th century on the site of the former fortress of Sedlíšťka. The same site retains a circular castle mound surrounded by a moat, as well as small sections of wall. The barn is the dated Baroque structure; the mound, moat and wall remains are other surviving features of the site.

Sedlíšťka can therefore be viewed from two perspectives: as the site of a Baroque barn and as a place bearing traces of the former fortress. If you are interested in architectural history, this distinction offers a concrete way to understand the features mentioned.

The Loučná River and the Landscape

The Loučná River flows north of Nová Sídla. A regional biocorridor has been designated along the river, part of which extends into the municipality. The river and the designated corridor form a connection to the landscape that lies partly outside the municipal area.

Nová Sídla is set in a landscape shaped by forestry and agriculture, and predominantly by agriculture. This description complements the connection to the Loučná River with the area’s agricultural and forestry character. A river corridor and the broader character of the landscape thus offer different perspectives.

Hiking Trail and Cycling Route

A marked red hiking trail passes through Sedlíšťka. Check the current signage on site. Cycling route 4021 also passes through the cadastral area of Nová Sídla; check current route information before setting out. The routes have different geographical reference points: the hiking trail is described as passing through Sedlíšťka, while the cycling route passes through the cadastral area.

Library in the Fire Station

The municipal library is on the first floor of the fire station. It has a computer and a printer and offers public internet access. If you plan to use any of these services, check access arrangements and current availability in advance.
