Discover Chrastavec
Accommodation in Chrastavec
Chrastavec lies in a deep, picturesque valley of interest to tourists, between two hills. The landscape, local history and places of remembrance offer different ways to shape your stay. When looking for a hotel, you can consider whether you would mainly like to explore the valley, local buildings or the history of the municipality.
Valley, Forest and Water
Rohles Forest connects the two parts of Chrastavec. The Chrastavský potok runs alongside the road between Půlpecen and Chrastavec. The valley, the connecting forest and the course of the stream reveal different aspects of the landscape and local geography.
Routes in the Village and Surrounding Area
A cycle route runs through all of Chrastavec. A red horse-riding trail in the surrounding area, about 3 km from Chrastavec, is a separate route. It leads from Vítějeves past Svojanov Castle towards Polička. For planning your route, it is useful to distinguish between the type of trail and its location: the cycle route runs through the village, while the horse-riding trail is in the surrounding area. The two routes therefore offer different starting points for planning your stay.
Church and Local Heritage
The Church of the Holy Trinity was built in 1864 and is a prominent landmark of Chrastavec. Beside it is a memorial plaque to Professor MUDr. Josef Janků, made in 2008. Janků was born in Chrastavec and headed the eye clinic at the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague. The church and plaque bring together local history and the memory of a native of Chrastavec and his professional work in Prague.
A report published in 2011 records that the church was completely renovated at the municipality’s expense, with parish members providing hands-on assistance. This adds the building’s renovation history to the picture, without conflating the church’s construction date with the date of the works.
Villas and Architectural History
The Löw-Beer Villa in Chrastavec is designated a cultural monument. The Löw-Beer Villa in Půlpecen was built between 1911 and 1913. The distinction between the two locations is important when considering their architectural history: the villa in Chrastavec is noted for its protected status, while the construction period is specified for the villa in Půlpecen. Together with the church, built in 1864, they offer different historical periods and architectural points of interest.
The Fortress of Oldřich Chrastavský
The fortress of Oldřich Chrastavský was part of the defence of the Bohemian lands against enemy incursions. No structural remains of the former fortress have survived. An information board marks its approximate location in Chrastavec. This historic site thus brings together its former defensive role and the present-day marker: the board points to the approximate site, while the fortress itself no longer remains.
Hudálna for Weddings
If you are travelling for a wedding, the Hudálna may also be relevant to your plans. It can be rented for weddings and has a covered outdoor dance floor. The Hudálna therefore combines a specific local rental option with a described feature of its outdoor area.
