Řídký: Landscape, Local History and Transport
Accommodation in Řídký
Řídký lies in the gently rolling landscape of the Litomyšl Basin and combines a long local history with specific public and transport-related landmarks. If you are considering the municipality as a place to stay, it is worth noting the village’s elevation and the location of the Loučná: the river is about 700 metres southwest, outside the municipal cadastral area, while bus stops and public facilities are in the village. History, natural surroundings and travel connections each offer a different point of reference when choosing a place to stay.
Landscape and Waterways
Geomorphologically, Řídký belongs to the Litomyšl Basin, a gently rolling hilly landscape. The village lies above the Loučná valley. The Loučná flows through a shallow valley about 700 metres southwest of Řídký and outside the municipality’s cadastral area. The local water network also includes the Končinský potok. The area is forested along the northwestern municipal boundary by the Švábenice stream; southwest of the railway, there are permanently green areas and meadows.
The entire municipal area lies within a CHOPAV groundwater protection zone. Regional biocorridor RBK.846 “Aronka–Nedošínský háj” runs along the southern municipal boundary. Their spatial extents differ: the groundwater protection zone covers the entire municipality, while the biocorridor runs along its southern boundary.
Local History and Settlement Structure
Řídký was founded in 1689 as a small settlement on a historic road. The first building in Řídký was a forester’s lodge; later, the well-known historic inn “Pod Číhadly” was established. The cohesive linear settlement structure is also considered an urban planning asset. It describes the spatial cohesion of the village and adds another perspective to its history: the founding and the inn relate to its history, while the linear structure concerns the settlement’s form.
Public Space by the Municipal Office
The cross beside the municipal office is designated as a local cultural and architectural asset. The public space around the municipal office includes a children’s playground and an open pavilion. If you are travelling with children, you can include the playground as a specific local point of reference in your plans.
Transport and Getting Around
Řídký has a bus stop and a railway stop. The I/35 road also passes through Řídký, connecting Hradec Králové, Litomyšl and Mohelnice. These are different points of reference: the stops place bus and rail services in the village, while the I/35 provides a road connection between the cities named. Check for bus and train services that match your travel date.
There are two points to distinguish when it comes to cycling: Řídký has no dedicated cycle paths, and no designated cycling routes pass through the municipal area. The first statement concerns cycle paths in the village, while the second concerns the routes of designated cycling routes through the municipality. If you are planning a cycling leg, take both into account when choosing your route.
