Výkleky: Swimming, Cycling and Local History
Accommodation in Výkleky
Výkleky offers several distinct themes for a stay: the Lom Výkleky quarry as a natural swimming spot, cycling routes and evidence of local history. Those mainly interested in the water will plan differently from visitors who want to cycle or learn about the history of the village.
Water and Nature
Lom Výkleky is a natural swimming spot in Výkleky and is also popular with divers. The clear water offers visibility of several metres; water clarity varies by season and can change. Swimming conditions and facilities can also change. Check the current conditions before your visit if you are planning to swim or dive. Studánka Kadloubek is also among Výkleky’s natural attractions, offering another connection with nature besides the quarry swimming spot.
Cycling and Hiking
The Pobečví cycling route passes through Výkleky. The Výkleky–Lazníky cycling route is suitable for bicycles and bicycle trailers. These are two different considerations for your planning: the route through Výkleky and its suitability for a bicycle trailer. The suitability of the Výkleky–Lazníky route may change with surface or access conditions; check the current conditions before setting out. A green-marked hiking trail also passes near Výkleky. You can include hiking as another option in your travel plans.
Local History
The first written mention of Výkleky appears in a document from 1258. Local tradition gives the year as 1203; this should be distinguished from the document regarded as the first written mention. The dates therefore refer to different historical sources: local tradition and a written record. The Chapel of St Anthony of Padua and a stone cross also provide concrete points of reference in the village’s history. The chapel was built in 1898 on the site of a wooden bell tower. The stone cross with a Marian motif dates from 1881. The history of the chapel includes not only its year of construction but also the site of the former wooden bell tower. The stone cross is older than the chapel: the two dates are 17 years apart.
Getting There and Finding a Hotel
There is no railway line within the cadastral area of Výkleky. If you plan to arrive by train, allow for the onward journey from a suitable station and check the connection for your travel date. When looking for a hotel, it helps to consider your journey and the purpose of your stay separately: the train connection concerns getting to the village, while your daily activities depend on your interests.
