Mikulovice U Jeseníku
Accommodation in Mikulovice U Jeseníku
The Jeseníky Stage of the Moravian Trail begins in Mikulovice U Jeseníku. The town also has rail connections to Poland and Zlaté Hory. These are two different starting points for planning a trip: the beginning of a cycling route and connections to named rail destinations.
Cycling on the Moravian Trail
From Mikulovice, the Moravian Trail climbs gently to Písečná, then continues via Česká Ves to Jeseník. The gentle climb refers to the section as far as Písečná. The Jeseníky section of the trail is 79.8 km long in total. The sequence of towns, the description of the climb, and the distance answer different planning questions: the towns show the route, the climb describes its beginning, and the total distance refers to the entire section. When planning stages, it is therefore helpful to distinguish between the described start and the length of the entire Jeseníky section. Line No. 292 runs near the Moravian Trail.
Church and local history
The new “Church of St. Nicholas” was handed over for use to the parishioners of Mikulovice on November 20, 1904. It is considered the most monumental church building in the Jeseník region. The handover date places it in the town’s history, while its regional standing broadens the perspective beyond Mikulovice. If you are interested in church architecture, this cultural and historical subject adds a different focus to the cycling route. The date and the regional superlative set different frames of reference: one concerns the handover in Mikulovice, the other the church building’s standing in the Jeseník region.
Getting there and air sports
Check the current rail timetable before travelling to make sure it suits your travel dates. For rail travel, the destination and timetable are the main considerations; for the cycling route, they are the starting point in Mikulovice and the rest of the route. This allows you to consider getting there and the cycling stage as separate parts of your plans.
The Jeseník Aero Club offers opportunities for gliding, powered flying, and parachuting, as well as public flights over the Jeseníky Mountains. Confirm the availability of public flights directly with the Aero Club before your trip. These activities offer a view of the mountains from the air; the Moravian Trail, by contrast, is a cycling route that starts in Mikulovice and passes through several named towns. Air sports and cycling are therefore two different activity options for your stay.
Events
The program for Mikulovické dny 2025 included music, good food, activities for children, a program for all generations, and sales stalls. If attending an event is important to your trip, check the specific dates and program for the event in question.
